  • ARB Air Locker

    Hi Guys,
I’m new to modifications of 4WD.
I have a 150 series car. I was thinking of getting ARB Front & Rear Air lockers. Could you please advice?

Have you considered an e-locker? That's what I'm considering. The only thing bad I have read is some people can't tell when they are on or not.

Instead of using air to engage the diff locker like ARB, it uses 12V power supply to engage the diff locker. Getting one myself later down the track.

Made by Harrop, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a hand in the factory locker, Harrop make a few items for Toyota , TRD turbo..

What ever you do mate go to authorised dealer (AN ARB SHOP) or the like not a independent retailer, And one more thing I would never leave town with out them what ever locker or lockers you buy. I fine them great when you are climbing steep hills and tracks everything has the same load or torque on all the components. When you get a variation in the load like a wheel slipping or losing traction and then re-loading again that when you MIGHT do some damage like a CV.

A locked diff won't distribute equal torque. That's what an open diff does. It distributes equal rotational speed which may lead to enormous differences in torque and load between wheels. It may prevent shock loading that may occur from spinning wheels with an open diff.

will a locked diff cause any unwanted behavior when unlocked, compared to not having a difflock? traction control? LSD?
