looks good mate love black cars just dont like cleaning them, you should look into some combo covers for your lights i have them and they are excelent they shortened the beam a little but broadend it out nicely

Looking good, damn good choice in light as well. I have found but with the HID headlights as standard on the VX that the HID low beams are great for short distance especially with the corning function and the highbeams are great and work well at medium distance and the HID Spot lights are great for long distance so I have not bothered to put on a Combo cover, the lights just seem to work perfectly and give great light output.

Starting to really take shape now, whats next?

Still no pictures yet at night time but it is awesome. I couldnt believe the difference. The only downside is when you dip your lights for oncoming traffic you are plunged into darkness untill you get used to low beam again. I ended up getting one combo an one spot cover. I will swap them round and try and get photos of all the combinations if anyone is interested.
Next on the list is probably a towbar. Would really love the kaymar rear step and tow bar. But I dunno if I can justify the best part of three grand. I'll just have to wait till I destroy the rear bumper when I'm out and about...

okay finally got some pictures of these lights in action. Not being any type of camera expert, i had it set to auto which made it pretty hard to hold the camera steady for those super long exposure times. so aplogies for that. :| while the pictures don't really do the light justice, you can sort of get the idea.

first up we pulled up to the estuary and this looked pretty cool. the one on the right is the combo cover hence the less intensity

this one is just with the HID low beams

This one is HID low beam and non HID High beam

Low and High with spots, one spot and one spread, both blue covers

          two clear spot covers

all in all very happy indeed.

Re: ages 150 VX D4D black

Just finished the Diff breather today, worked on it a bit yesterday, can't thank this thread enough viewtopic.php?f=49&t=8593 made very light work of it.
got all the stuff from coventry's down here, cost me about $90 but i had heaps of spare parts cause i wasn't sure what i needed.
i was pretty suprised that the transfer and transmission breathers are just that, and not a one way check valve like the rear diff breather, so it was actually worth busting my guts to reach down into the back of the engine bay (after the car had cooled ops: ). Also did the fuel tank check valve aswell, figured i might aswell since i was under there anyway.
              any way some pics.

              rear diff

              fuel tank check valve

the hardest part of doing the two at the back was getting all the plastic clip of the wheel arch

              new hoses

              up to the fuel filler

              transfer and transmission

the front diff breather was extended up to the fuse box already so i just extended that a little bit to meet up with the rest of them at the front.

                UHF radio

okay one of my more impulsive buys, just rang up about the price of the new GME TX3540, and next thing i know i'm booking it in for that day...
anyways they threw it in yesterday, and now i'll be able to talk to people. I wanted them to do a fancy bit of an install like Roadblocks but it had them a bit stumped. so maybe a bit more research might be required for that one.
Hven't quite worked out everything yet, but the manual seems pretty easy to follow. Push this button hold that button, yadda yadda yadda. Checked out the process to go to 80 channels instead of 40. meh! we'll see...
                anyways couple of pics

Yeah Thanks. it's a pretty good unit. My last post didn't come across as positive as I'd like. Haha. End of a long day at work. It'll get a decent workout on our next pp trip on the 9 July. Can't wait!

well having the uhf plugged in all the time finally got the better of me and today with just hours to go before we all meet up for our trip i've re-routed cable and installed the little female-female doovalacky (technical term).
much happier with the final result

Can you tell us how you got your centre console apart? I saw in the photo that you got the side off and I have not worked out which part I can pull off to get into that area without doing damage.

if you pull the two silver columns that run down either side of the radio towards the back of the car, they just unclip. thats arrow one. arrow two shows the next part that comes off and you just lever that out towards the door there are a few screws behind this one that i had to take out so i could get the centre console out, then i took out the 4WD selector arrow 3, that just pulls out in the same direction as the silver columns.

then get a nice wide flat blade screwdriver and insert it in these two spots and wedge them up, then work your way along either side, the whole thing just unclips from there.

i didn't actually get the whole centre console off, cause i wasn't sure how the gear selector and handbrake come off. but there are a few wires and stuff under there aswell to be careful of, i nearly snapped some just under the gear selector. be pretty careful when doing that bit.
                            Hope that helps a bit
