Thanks for the photo Roadblock. Same as the 120, interesting the toyo bar on the 150 seems like almost overkill compared to the 120.

        Re: Roadblock's 2011 GXL D4D Build up

Finally finished installing the UHF this morning after a couple of very frustrating nights trying to run power for the radio. The radio I have is a GME TX3600 that I have had for a number of years but only recently swapped the remote face / head for a LCD microphone. The intent being that I wouldn't need to drill any holes and could unplug and put the mic out of sight when not in use. To clean up the installation I used a RJ45 pass-through (F-F) connector with a face plate (light blue) that fits quite neatly in to the hole beside the 2nd start button. The power ended up coming from a wire soldered to the +ve of the 12V outlet in the middle row. This was the easiest place to get at by simply removing the whole rear fascia of the console box. The aerial was fitted with the bullbar and is a Laser UHF - 2 EL Collinear - Rugged Fibreglass

Thanks for that Silvo. Quick question... how does your Tigerz11 winch go? I've looked at them a couple of times and really like the fact that they're two speed and you can actually order them already set up with plasma on them! Just a matter of getting the approval signed off by SWMBO now. I pick up my dash mat and wetseat seat covers next week and I think the window tint is going on too. Having said that, the winch may remain on the back-burner for a while yet. The minister is still coming to terms with the fact that the shiny new car is going to be up to its proverbials in sand and mud before too long.

                        Ryancal,

I just used the extension cable that came with the LCD mic. Originally my TX3600 had the remote face (which is basically a TX3600 with some more commercial features). I swapped the RH003 remote head for a MC522BC LCD mic on the advise of the local radio techs. I think the TX34 series radios use the MC520B LCD microphone according to http://www.gme.net.au/products/radio-co ... ios/TX3440 I would check it out with your local radio shop though to make sure.

As for the extension piece, I think its just a normal cat5 (ethernet) cable. If not it will just be a crossover cable. Maybe try your local Jaycar guys. They should have a solution for you with the connector as well.

                        Roadblock.

I have to admit that I didn't purchase the plate or the connector. They were left over from a IT install at work. The other thing with the plate is that while it is the right width for the hole, it is not high enough to engage in the hole in the dash. I ended up cutting a piece out of a rubber seal to fill the gap and put pressure on the whole set up so it wouldn't come out. You probably can't see it in the photos because of the angle they're taken on. I will PM with some more info...

The 15.1" roof mounted DVD player went in today. Absolutely brilliant unit. I definitely wouldn't go any bigger though. The corners of the screen are pretty close to the corners of the driver's and passenger's seats when they're all the way back so definitely blocks out the rear vision mirror. Not to worry though.. that's what the camera is for

I bought the DVD player some time ago from Elinz electronics as I was very apprehensive about buying one off flea bay.

                              http://www.elinz.com.au/products/in-car ... n-monitor/

The resolution is great which is something I found varies greatly across the range that is available, regardless of brand or size. The XTRONS resolution is 1440 x 900 which is equivalent to some widescreen laptops. Very pleased so far...
