  • Hi PP, You have a great forum here that I have used quite a bit to research various bits and pieces.
    My Name is Ben, I finally got my dream car this week!

    Model: Kakadu Diesel 3lt
    Year: 2015
    Colour: Silver
    Accessories: Opted for the Tow Bar, Tint, Paint and Interior Protection, Floor Matts, Cargo Liner and the extended warranty (6 years/175,000km)
    Wish list: Engel Fridge, ARB Sahara Bar, ATR Tyres, UHF, LED Light Bar
    I intend to use the car to explore this beautiful country! Trips I have in mind include Flinders Rangers, Simpson Desert, Fraser Island, Victorian High Country, WA and NT.
    Was a bit of a dilemma as to whether or not to hang out for the new motor in August, but in the end was happy to go with what had been tried and tested.
    Looking forward to keeping up to date with products and ideas and hearing about others experiences.
    Ben

    • Hello PradoPoint!

      Kudos for an excellent forum! Since discovering PradoPoint.com I am addicted, the wealth of knowledge is amazing!

      I'm Jarred, based in Perth and became the owner of a 2007 D4D GXL Auto in January 2015. I picked her up from her original country owner with 215,000kms for $27k. I added tinting the day of picking her up and had a 2" Old Man Emu lift installed the day after. All of the following was added 12 months before she became mine due to poor health forcing the original owner to give up his licence, poor bugger;

      New injectors
      New 265/70 BFG Muddies
      Bushranger Winch
      IPF Spotties
      ARB Delux Bullbar
      Clarion GPS and bluetooth head unit.

      Having had my Prado since January I can't stop driving the thing from trips up north to visiting the family in country Victoria. She is now sitting on 266,600kms and had a new set of shoes fitted today. I fitted 265/70/17 BFG AT KO2's, so far so good! Love the reduction in noise from the muddies and personally think the KO2's are a bloody fantastic tyre.

      On the wish list is a duel battery system, front and rear lockers and a set of rear draws with a fridge slide.

      I would appreciate the opportunity to meet Perth Prado owners and more importantly like to be introduced to a decent mechanic, I have a real trust issue with mechanics considering I love my Prado so much.

      Again, loving the forum and look forward to meeting fellow Prado owners!

      Jarred

      BTW here's some picture of my Prado, one in Dalwallinu last month looking filthy thanks to the Great Northern road works and one of her tonight with her new boots.Click image for larger version

        • Hello prado pointers
          Been here watching for ages and can't remember if I've ever posted. Been lapping up the great info and someone more knowledgeable always pipes up before I can offer much value.
          I'm on my 3rd Prado, 2x d4d 150s but have recently gone back to an '08 120s v6 for cost and reliability reasons.

          Tell me, is it just my browser or device I'm using or do I need to click a link to see a photo? Surely in 2015 photos would be inline rather than having to be directed to an image hosts website? I just looked at 30 pics and im over it! I must be doing something wrong! Help!?

            Depends on how the pix are put up! If people used photobucket it would be much better, some of the other photo hosts are a bit clunky, just my opinion

            • Introducing myself

              Hi Everyone,

              I hope im in the right spot, my name is Jess and im really keen in the 4x4 and outdoors. I don't have a 4x4 myself yet but im set on getting a 120 series ASAP for myself as my partner has a Paj and Patrol. I couldn't find a thread to introduce myself without introducing my (lack of) Prado. Im from Young in SW NSW, there aren't very many tracks close to us so I would love to hear about tracks and trips everyone had taken for some more ideas Id love to meet some new people aswell. I would definatly class myself as a newbie behind the wheel, mostly because I think im a bit scared to brake a 4x4 that isn't mine lol but I am getting pretty confident with picking lines and driving simple tracks. I hope I havnt broken any rules here, I just wanted to say hello and start getting social and into a few discussions.

              Thankyou,

              Jess =)

              • Hi Jess, welcome aboard.

                No you haven't broken any rules, there is an introductions thread and I am sure one of the moderators will shift this over to that thread just to tidy things up a bit. There are lots of threads in the trip report section from all over the country that will give you heaps of ideas on places to go and visit.

                You are on the right track looking for a 120 as well, them being the best Prado........... but I might be a touch biased on that one.

                Cheers Andrew
