Fitting REDARC Brake Controller to GXL 150

Hi fitted a Redarc controller to my 150 , got the idea from Prado Point
1- Finished Product
P7230370.JPG

2- You need to remove Drivers and Passengers vertical trim , they pull out pulling from the bottom out
P7220347.JPG

3-Pull the A/C panel out , found this best pulling from the bottom in a up motion
P7220349.JPG

4- This is the panel to fit the led and knob , it does not pull out from the outside , comes out from the inside , there is a top and bottom to this insert
5-Drill out the holes and cut away the inside plastic to mount the led and knob
6- Mounted the box up here ,just under the metal tube
7-Place some foam here so not to rattle
8-Turned unit upside down and cable tied into place , wrapped from tape around the wires close to the box so they would not chafe
9-The unit is mounted just inder the metal tube
10-Inside the jack holder is the trailer cable box , held on with strong double sided tape , this is where I picked up the stop lamp and in the same wiring loom you will find a blue wire not connected this is the trailer brake wire.Ran 2 wires down to here , could have picked up the brake light up at the brake pedal but thought I stay away from the pedals .
Caution: When wiring up the controller follow the wiring diagram , the red is not 12v and the white is negative, not what you would think ( saves pulling it all apart again when you read the instructions at the end after you have reassembled the car !!!!!! )
Have to thank Sidewinder for his posts that helped me gain access Cheers Digger :D

Nice job. Question, does the Redarc unit have a pendulum/accelerometer in it? or is it just static pressure?

Thanks for the photos on dash dis-assembly, they will come in very handy

Not sure on that you would have to look at their web site, my camper is not that heavy so went for a unit which could fit in the dash and not worry about knee knocking it or air bags . They came with a good wrap so went for it . Got it for $178 of ebay from Aust .

It doesn't have a pendulum / accelerometer in it but it is small and that's the reason i bought one too. Small, tidy brake controller. Hey digger i'm having a go at fitting mine tomorrow. Which way did you run your two core down to the trailer wire box? From the brake controller then down left or right hand side of the car?
Cheers

Hi Geoff
I ran it down the passenger side , took of the panel under the glove box 1 screw, then the pass door step , then the pass kick panel, undo the knob looking thing at the front of the panel with 3 slots in it , it screws out then pull it out .then undo back pass door step panel first unbolting the step.I ran the wire around the door pillar and just pushed it into the trim. Also when you pull the door seal out up to the mid way after undoing the seat belt as per sidewinders instructions . I placed a hollow tube from the door gap to the jack space and feed a draw wire in them pulled the tube out then pulled the twin core to the jack space with the draw wire. This saved a lot of muching around trying to feed the wire into the jack space from the door side.
Make sure you follow the wiring diagram as red is not the 12v and think black was not neg ,m I had to rewire once finished opps  Good luck :D

Hey Digger, Job all Done :D Thanks for the tips. Mine is a 120 GXL but i wired the same way you did. Heavy Duty two core down L/H side and picked up brake wire of the trailer loom near the Jack and the the "Blue" wire for the electric brakes. Fitted 50mm anderson plug beside my 7 pin round trailer plug and ran 2 B&S cables along L/H chassis rail and up to dual battery relay while i was going 8)
Cheers
