  • Hey Glen,

As I have already said in comments on youtube, had the same issue with LCA. I did weld the bushing to the LCA for a 3 times. Every time that was good for a few weeks. At the end I decided to stop it and bought the new LCA. So you can try to weld it, but looking on the places where you have fun personally I think it is better just to buy the new one.
There is nothing interesting at the place where asphalt is, but there is no asphalt at the interesting place...

    • What about the aftermarket UCAs? Do they have the same problem?

Thanks for the info Serg! I do plan to change the LCA. The welding is just as a temporary measure - but based on your notes I'll have to make sure its a very good weld!!

No their bushing design is different. The standard lowers are rubber encapsulated by steel, the outer steel sleeve is pressed into the steel arms (metal vs metal). The bushings on my aftermarket UCA's do not have a steel outer section, so when they're being pushed in it's rubber vs metal. Oh, they do have a metal inner section, but it's easily inserted through the middle after the rubber has been pushed in.

                • Looks a tad sturdier than the old one Glenn. Hows the welding coming along?

Yep definitely stronger - 5mm instead of 3mm - plus I increased the overall size around the bolt holes. Welding is coming along okay - that fine mesh work was very tricky! Just taking the whole process slowly.

                      • Just a note re front sway bars and how you had issues with destroying the links:

I have a 2" lifted 185 surf (same driveline), and I have discovered that I can remove one link completely while offroad and the end of the sway bar will not contact/hit anything, dramatically increasing 4wd ability. Not sure if this will work for you with body lift etc but should do. Have a go and slowly articulate front both ways while seeing how close it comes.

                        Matt

                        • Cheers Matt,
Yes that'll definitely work to allow more articulation. I think my past tests showed travel increases from 5-6" to 7-9" with the bar completely disconnected. Just have to be careful with the shocks as nothing will protect them from over extension.
