Glen - this is certainly one hell of a 90 series mate. Love the rig and build up.

Out of curiosity, you said something about seeing the engineer. Was this for 1) the body life; 2) the large tyres; or 3) all of the above? That is, in SA, we are allowed a maximum lift of 50mm which includes all of increased tyre size (max 15mm OD); body lift; and/or suspension lift. is NSW similar in laws? Over here we would have to do a sway test etc to pass anything over 50mm. Just after some info on what exactly you got engineered.

          Cheers
          Ian.

Did they have to do a sway test or anything Glen, and was the certificate overly expensive?

I know it was taken for a test drive, and that it performed very well, but I don't know exactly what tests were performed. Everything was inspected, every single body block, and all measured.

Cost was not too much, especially when you consider the money we pour into these vehicles anyway. It's certainly worth it. (PM sent with further detail)

Prado has now passed the AUVIS / blue slip inspection! Just need the paperwork filed with RTA and it'll be 100% legal

Maybe I should get a custom plate while I'm there? Any suggestions?

                        That's a smart one.
I was thinking a little more bullish though.

Have the new ratios returned the gearing to normal or have they over compensated for the tyres?

                                Hello Glen!!

You can honestly say if was worth regear for 255/85 ( 33" ) Tires???

This I read before in some important pages:

"All new gear sets require a break-in period to prevent damage from overheating. After driving the first 15 or 20 miles you must let the differential cool for 30-40 minutes before proceeding. Drive 500 easy miles before towing. Tow for very short distances (less than 15 miles) and let the differential cool before continuing during the first 45 towing miles. Change the gear oil after the first 500 miles. This will remove any metal particles or phosphorus coating that has come from the new gear set."

I think makes perfect sense and it is best to follow this advice. You may already know that je je!

                                Cheers
