  • Airbag Man Air Suspension Photos

Here are some pics of our Prado to show you the flex we have.
No tricks were performed, sway bar is attached, rear flex at max articulation is 454mm (21.4") difference form side to side.

Note on with tag "LHS Front Off" the daylight under the front LH tyre; we found it impossible to flex the front fully so no measurements there.

        Nice set up.

So what's the dollars???? (Taking into account Prado Point discount and free advertising you got on here )

What are the specs on the shocks? they look a little skinny.

        Is height control available?

I once did a trip to Alice Springs on the old road no bitumen, yonks ago! and a number of trips to other well known spots all on unsealed roads and shredded many mud flaps and wore out previously good but exposed exhaust silencers purely from road shrappnel/gravel on long trips and this was for holidays not commercial venture.

How do those rubber bags handle this type of terrain :?:

            Airbag Man Pricing

Yes we will look after Pradopoint members, I have found this forum quite helpful in other areas, even over the long wait for delivery of my vehicle. I wanted the forum members to be first to see and have access to this exciting world first, long travel bolt-in air suspension on a Prado.
Airabg Man does realise the value of this free advertising so in the interests of all we are happy to offer a discount off our recommended retail of 15% to Pradopoint members, simply contact us with your member name and we will look after you.

The Full Replacement kit retails for $1375.00 including GST, the shocks retail for $280.00 including GST each, so $1935.00 all up.

We do have available many air control options including on-board air supply systems, in-cab manual controls and automatic controls, these start at $795.00 including GST for a basic in-cab or onboard air system. More details can be seen on out web site at the end of the applications listings.

Regarding the ability of the parts to survive, we have vast experience in this area from working with vehicles in commercial and agricultural applications far worse than any recreational user would contemplate. We have been selling full air suspension systems in to 4x4's for 10 years with great success in the mining, farming and competition arenas.

The Prado system uses a polyurethane lower mount; this material is many times better than steel at resisting damage. The rubber air springs are also far more resistant than steel as they tend to absorb the enery of and spit out any debris that strikes them. Commercial vehicles have proven air spings in the worst of conditions, the parts we sell are made from much heavier material than that found on factory air springs in for example Grande Prados or Disco's.

Regarding the shocks, these Edelbrocks parts are monotube dampers with a 46mm bore, 5/8" NitroSteel shafts and unique IAS valving that allows ride control and fade resitanace like we have never seen before. Previously we have used most major brands with varying degrees of success but use Edelbrocks wherever possible now; they are also easily custom valved to our requirements.

Sorry about all the words, but this should answer many questions people have, otherwise please reply here of contact us.

I have a green light for a suspension upgrade... time and $ is the only delay.

Your costs with the 15% discount are roughly what I would be looking at for the suspension upgrade, so you have piqued my interest.

With regards this product, is there any additional lift? Also, what is the warranty period?

                        All the best,
                        LFaR.

                          Thanks for the good questions.

Our products are able to be fitted with no modifications to the vehicle, other than changing springs, so do not require any specific approvals for modifications, we also have a letter from QLD transport to say that our systems do not require approval.

All our parts carry a minimum 1 year warranty, the air bags can be expected to last at least 10 years.

The lift you get is set by the front suspension, however the rear is capable of lifting about 4" above standard for additional clearance when needed (I would not go very far like this as it becomes very firm).

We also have some new shocks under trial that have been made for us, they allow even more travel (about +20mm) and are priced very keenly.

                            HI Airbag man

Are the bags manufactured to give a standard height, or are they manufactured (or can they be) to give a raised height (say +30mm) while still keeping the same "spring rate"
I understand completely that you can pump them up to give a raised height, but then as you have said the ride would get hard
I had a Disco previously which had bags on the rear and we put a spacer under them to give a lift (and adjusted the sensor) so we would still keep the same "spring rate" in the bag
I guess I am looking for something that is a little higher in standard mode so that I can run the larger tyres and then go up as needed as the situation warranted.

With the electronic controller system, what can they do? Can you raise just one corner if needed?
Are there any in development that are a bit like the D3 where if one side compresses then the aircompressor pumps air into the other side which means that it would act like a solid axle in the rough stuff?
What sort of aircompressor is needed?

                            cheers

                              Comaprison to a Disco

                              Hi bitdist,
We make the air spring assemblies here and have three different bellows lengths to choose from so we can set the ride height to standard, slightly raised or 2-3" raised. We also shaped the profile of the piston to provide a hardly noticeable change in rate over about 2" of height adjustment, only above this does it become hard, also note that the greater the air volume in the bag the softer the rate, ours are much larger in volume than a Disco.
The Landrover controls are made by one of our suppliers, the other supplier has similar systems and we make a large range of systems here so you can control if however you want. What you are talking about on the D3 is a really old idea, we have been cross-linking for many years even on live axle vehicles. The compressor does not pump any air around, it simply lets the two air springs be joined together so air can flow freely between them. The compressor is totally dependant on which controls you want and may vary from a basic portable unit to multiple on-board units to an engine driven unit; it is best to sort out the controls first.
It is best to call us to go through this so we can explain the ins and outs fully.
                              Regards,
                              Brett.
