Below is a spreadsheet which calculates the actual payload of various popular 4WDs given the actual trailer mass when fully loaded (ATM).
The reason for making this spreadsheet is because there appears to be a common misconception that the Ford Ranger is the best towing vehicle due to its 3.5T towing capacity. However, as the spreadsheet will demonstrate, if you accessorize the vehicle heavily, the weight capacity left for passengers and luggage gets close to zero.
The spreadsheet allows you to enter the actual trailer weight and you can then sort which vehicle gives the most available payload. Enter the weight into the RED CELL

If you find any errors, please post below. The list isn't complete so feel free to put the specs in your comments below:
GCM = Gross Combination Mass = GVM+GTM
GVM = Gross Vehicle Mass
GTM = Gross Trailer Mass = ATM-TBM
ATM = Aggregate Trailer Mass = GTM+TBM
TBM = Tow Ball Mass
Payload = Accessories, luggage, passengers
