Mild flunk from first to reverse. Car makes lots of squeaks. Don't want to change parts prematurely but can't afford to thrash and replace arms due to new kids.
Are the gaps in photos normal? Am I missing a bush totally on one side? Do I need to have a better look? Is there meant to be rubber showing on each side?
Pardon my ignorance, rather ask a dumb question than.....

    Hey,

There's a lot of things that could be the cause of the "mild flunk"=mild clunk? from first to reverse. Plenty that can squeak as well!

The bushes that you've taken photos of are in the lower and upper IFS arms, and both look ok to me. It's unlikely they are causing noises, they are the largest and most flexible bushes in the IFS, and they don't usually fail....usually!

The most common bush to fail in the IFS is the strut ringeye bush, and it can definitely make a clunk.

The bushes in the rear upper and lower trailing arms can crap out, and can also clunk. Much rarer to hear noises here, and usually only on Prados with long open length rear shocks, which twist the OEM rubber bushes beyond their limits.

One of your ball joints might be making the clunk as well, could be upper arm or lower front arm, they can both go. Same for the swaybar links, check the ball joints there as well, both front and rear.

Rack ends can make a mighty big clunk, but more likely you'd hear that while turning over an inclined gutter.

The easiest way to see if any of your suspension is problematic is to get the Prado up on a shaker hoist.

There's two Pedders in Canberra, so hopefully one of them has a shaker hoist and can help you out.

You'll find if anything is moving in the suspension on a good shaker hoist, just grab onto it with your hand while the shaker is operating, any mechanical slop and you'll feel it!

    Good luck!

      Those bushes look normal.
You need to look into them from the ends.
It's also normal to have exterior cracks, unless they are new.
Imo unless the cracks are extensive & deep or there is play, thy are ok.
Some get flogged out early, by hard driving & smashing speed humps.
If looked after they will last hundreds of thousands of Klm's.

Your flunk? could be tail shaft. Common & normal.
Your squeak could be the exhaust gasket at join under drivers seat.common & replace gasket.
