  • Anyone using a double DIN Android head unit?

    Hi,

I'm looking to replace the factory head unit in my (mid-) 2004 Grande - the sat nav still works fine, as does the radio and CD player (and probably the tape deck if I could find a cassette to try it on!) but the 6-disc changer died a while back and the unit has no inputs for USB/SD/Aux/etc, so I rely a lot on my good ol' FM transmitter and USB stick. With the disc changer having died, I don't really trust the GPS DVD player going on too much longer either! An auto electrician looked at the back of the unit some time ago to connect the reverse camera I installed and claimed there was nowhere to attach it, and with a new camper trailer arriving soon I need to get the camera going too as I won't be pushing that around to hitch it up like I can with the current camper.

I want to get an Android head unit as opposed to a WinCE one, so I can run some of the nav apps I have on my phone (Ozi, etc.) as well as any installed street nav apps but also make use of Bluetooth, AUX, USB and SD inputs along with the rear camera.

I have seen any number of 'cheap' Android units that claim to do a lot but being mainly online have no way of actually reviewing or checking them out unless I buy them. A couple I am looking at are from Xcelerator Audio:

    https://www.xceleratorcaraudio.com.a...3g-free-camera

    https://www.xceleratorcaraudio.com.a...ith-6-2-screen

Does anyone have any experience with these head units, or other Android units? Particularly interested in start up times as some of these units give what appear to be ridiculously long start times, and also screen clarity in sunlight. I'm probably limited to around the $500-600 mark - especially given the new camper purchase!

Thanks in advance for your help!
