Yeah some of those rack attachments cost an arm and a leg!

It might be best to make up your own attachment. What I did with the shovel holder is a simple bolt drilled through the shovel and roof rack cross bars with a nyloc nut to hold the bolt on the cross bar. Then just a wing nut on top of the shovel to stop it going anywhere.
Bit of a backyard mash up but could definitely work for a set of maxtrax.
It isn't lockable at all but it works if you're on a budget.

Strap mine to the roof bars, to one side, which leaves enough room for a kayak on the other side.

Then use locking straps to secure them to the roof bars. Wrap a plastic bag around the lock to keep out rain and dust.
