Oil consumption / low motor oil alarm on 2.8

Hi guys

I have prado all options with the new 2.8 motor.
I made oil changed after 15.000km. Mechanics said oil level was a bit low.
Now around 25.000km I had 3 short alarms (like few seconds) with "oil motor low"... which was real (I added 1L and then immediatly engine was vibrating less).

It is my first Toyota big diesel (had the 4L V6 before).

Few questions :
- Is this normal on diesel to loose so much oil (... kind of 1L/or more for 10.000km) ? I guess not
- Have you seen something similar ?

Nope not normal for the k's you have now.
Mine now has 30k and doesn't use a drop between the services.

It is at the garage today. We'll see. Maybe they did not put enough oil at last revision ?
The guy seemed surprised as well.

Diesel motors will use some oil, 1lt per 10k would be at the high end of the scale and probably not acceptable

There have been a few 'reports' on here with various issues surrounding this 2.8L TD. Coolant dropped, burnt oil smell, excessive oil consumption.

Could there be more to this?

Car back from garage on friday, and mechanics said he found nothing at all... no trace of leak, nothing... :-(
Wondering if they did put enough oil at last maintenance window.

Btw he said that the "low alarm", orange is not critical at all but an indication that something has to be done.
If it goes red, => full stop.

... looked at documentation, they say 7.6L of oil when filter is replaced... guy told my wife (she brought the car) he put 6L...
