  • Wrong OME suspension installed by ARB

    Hi All,

I've had my Prado 150 suspension changed by my local ARB just before Christmas.

The ride is so bad I eventually went back today and discovered they put rear suspension coils and shocks from a 120 series in 895 coils and 005 shocks. The front feels ok and has 2885 coils but I cant see the shock nr.

Due to the medium rear 150 coils not being available in Australia they want to just change the shocks to the medium 60080 shocks for a 150 and leave the 120 series coils.

The load rating on the 120 coils is the same as the 150 coils but 10mm shorter.

What do you think I should do? Take the new shocks to improve the ride for now and back order the 150 coils? Or insist on the lower rating 120 shocks until it all can be replaced.
Do I go to TJM or other suplier and just hand them their stuff back in a box?

I am concerned that the length of the 60080 shocks on the shorter coil will give me more drama than what the change is worth. Shock reaching its end before hitting a bump stop etc.

I have not paid them yet as Im still waiting for my bullbar etc they have not received yet(ordered over 2 months ago) but they put in this suspension on the day my car was booked in for and so far seems happy to fix the issue- but they obviously dont know what they are doing.

    Any suggestions or comments please.

    Thanks,
    M

You want the 60080 shocks for the better open lengths.

As for the coils, what is the current suspension height : bottom of rim to wheel arch?

On the day of installation the back measured 835. Up from 784 standard.

Just recently fitted OME to my vehicle, front fitted 9884 spring and 90010 shock, bullbarwinch and 2nd battery, rear 9885 spring and 60081 shock, this achieves an OME 30 mm lift.
The springs are interchangeable between 120 and 150s just the load and lift rating changes with a 150 being heavier. A 895 coil is rated for a constant 200kgs in a 150 s and gives a 30 mm lift, the alternate spring for a medium load at 30mm is 895E. If you where chasing a 50nmm lift then medium load uses 889 spring for medium and 898 for a constant 200kg .
I have attached photo of OME spec sheet, hope you can read

Thanks, yes because I got 50mm lift the day of install, I was not even looking at the 30mm specs.
I measured this morning again and it already dropped to a 35mm lift in the back.
I will get them to put in the shocks for the 150 and then order the correct 50mm lift rear springs as they installed a 50mm lift in the front.

          Thanks,
          M

You should also have a copy of the spec sheet, martin, as it forms part of the warranty. If they didn't give you a spec sheet, I'd be a bit suspicious about this dealer.

IMHO... I would be asking for exactly what I had requested... exactly what they originally quoted on... and exactly what you expected to get and paid for.

Thanks for all the input !!

They just swapped over the shocks and the difference is like night and day!
They ordered the correct coils as well and will swap that over when it comes.

                Cheers,
