    Hi All,

    Just got quoted $850 to remove manifold and full clean including EGR - too much or reasonable ?

    Any feed back would be appreciated.

            You must drop the coolant, don't want any water left around - contamination.
            New gaskets, big job, takes all day and some if your cleaning properly, if your putting all the bolts back & in the right places.

            I will add not usually required or worth it.
            Egr & elbow clean & reach into manifold will be all that's worth it.
            Add plate 7mm hoe while at it. All that is worth about $500.00.

              Blocked- Worth cleaning



              Dirty but not blocked - looks crap, but imo Not worth cleaning. That is the worst of them. I don't do many.



              Then see, you still don't get to clean the ports.



              But they do look good clean.



              Use only new, genuine DENSO injectors.

                    Well its technically 'illegal' to block off or disable the EGR system BUT this hasn’t stopped many people posting 'how to' online. The legal option is to install our oil catch can system to try and keep the inlet manifold dry from oily fumes. No oil in the inlet and the carbon now has little chance to stick and build up.

                      I'm trying to make a trip up early next year.

                      So I could show you where to put it.
                      I'm not sure bout legalities, but I show / tell where they go & lots of people do it.

                        Just to pass on my 2c worth - I recently installed the EGR blanking plate into my 150 and afterwards noticed a strange flutter under acceleration. Turns out all EGR blanking plates aren't made equal. Mine was not only bypassing through the hole but also on the edge slightly. Thought I would pass it on just in case you experience the same thing.

                          That sounds strange.

                          The plate is clamped between the head and the EGR pipe using the original gasket on one side only. The only way for gas to go is through the hole in the plate because the plate covers the port completely.

                          What exactly do you mean by bypass? Is it leaking to the engine bay?

                            Sorry I wasn't clear. The blanking plate wasn't cut with the tabs in the right position. So gases were going through the hole as well as a very small gap on the edge of plate - which resulted in a noticeable noise due to leak to the engine bay. I think it was operator error on my behalf however with a quick modification to the plate I was able to centre it better and noise went away - success!!

                              that would have been quite a pain in the arse pulling it to bits twice?
