Hi again ####. I sent (I thought) an earlier reply, but got lost somewhere. Tks for your observations. Concerning possible fuel contamination at the injector site, as speculated, I am now interested to know how this might affect (observable) performance and what the possible remedies are, now or eventually? Could it be something as simple as they put some fuel additive into your tank during the service??

Had my 40K service done yesterday. Asked the service manager before he started on the valve clearance check and he confirmed they remove the tappet cover.
I was going to tell them to forget even checking them, but thought I would see how it was after the service. Probably not the best idea, but seems to be running fine? Doesn't seem any different to before...
I figured because I was asking/speaking to him about it, if any problems arose I could blow up stating that we indeed talked about it.

Experience is as stated above. They did the valve clearance check, and the car feels fine. No different.

Sure they could. Your telling them not to do there schedule.
But your valve clearances are not going to close in that time.
Decisions....... Who to trust?

IMO don't risk unnecessary fuel system contamination. (Not even with capped price).
Don't waste your money, Don't go in every 40,000k. Don't risk it. (if you knew what I know)
We don't find many out, when they are out its not much.
I know of dozens that are out the bit & never been adjusted (exe job).
Check them at 120k, depending what you find when you check them again.
New Injectors for most vehicles at 120k. 2006-2012ish.
2013 onwards we are going by diagnostics alone, because most are full DLC. (lasts longer generally).

My prado is a MY12 bulit 12/11 complied 2/12, how can I tell if it has dlc injectors and how long do these generally last before replacement?

@ 120k, go in for valve clearance check, replace Injectors if the not full DLC. Check serial numbers & work out date of manufacture. Genuine denso Full DLC are lasting much longer.

I went to Toyota today to pick up some filters. I gave them my VIN no and I was told 2367039365 is the part number for my injectors. I also saw on the hilux thread that post 7/11 hilux and prado were changed to this injector. Does this information sound correct to you ####?

That's the correct toyota part number for the vehicle.
All 150's superseded to this.
Does not mean they or full DLC are in it now.
