Bobcrusader's 150 2.8 VX build up

I had a 120 D4D for just over 9 years, so I know that I will probably keep this 150 for about the same. With that in mind, I am going hard early, to maximise the value from all the mods/accessories. However, I want to avoid any permanent changes, so new holes and cutting will be kept to a minimum. First big trip will be the Simpson in July 2017.

I've since done:
VicOffRoad 23in LED Light Bar (48x7W Osram) with Air On Board Prado button.
Uniden 8080S above the glovebox in the card holder area. Remote mic head plugs in to modified console blank and mounts on a HoldMyPhone 'ClicOn Centre Mount - low' with mic holder screwed to it. Power from center console cig lighter wire.
GME AS004 heavy duty spring base, AE4706 (2.1m, 8.1dB gain for desert) and AE4704 (600mm, 2.1dB gain for mountains), using bullbar mount point

Lamin-x Door Cup protectors - might be overkill now with keyless entry, but ladies' rings still seem to take their toll - no photo, they are supposed to be invisible!

Darche 2x2.5m Awning and 4WDSC Awning (yes, they are compatible, its as if they were made in the same factory…). I used a Rhino-Rack Awning mount kit and used all 8 mounts - overkill, but it shouldn't move.

Eurodivision Rubber Mats and Supertrim neoprene seat covers - keep the leather and carpet mats protected from the kids

Kaon Half Height cargo barrier - really happy with their design and should stop the kids from being pelted with sleeping bags and clothes

Konik T15 CREE reverse globes
Replaced all the T10 halogens with T10 LEDs
Upgraded high beams to PHILIPS HB3 9005 4300K 65W Crystal Vision White

Thanks for sharing Bob, I like your cargo barrier and UHF mounted in the (useless) card holder space in the glovebox.

How did u go about tapping the centre console power for your UHF, did you have to remove the whole console to get to it?

I did, but it was not a hard job. If I had the dual battery first, I would have run it off that.

It is easier to run the power for the UHF through the grommet on the firewall to your main or aux battery, less likely to have RF interference that way too. I have mounted my Uniden unit on the cover under the glovebox. It's just fastened to the plastic with double sided tape and has not moved. I did have to lift the console a bit to run the extension lead for the mike to the driver's side but as Bob has said it's easy to do. Pics are in my build thread if you need to visualise what I have done.

Second Battery in - Yellow Top with ARB tray and Redarc 1220 IGN management.

Power from second battery ran through firewall on driver side, down the sill and connecting to my first attempt at wiring a fuse box for the fridge and accessories in the back. I just screwed everything to the cavity at the back of the Drifta unit.
