Has anyone on here installed Old Man Emu suspension? Are you happy with it? Tossing up between OME and dobinsons set up but struggling to find dobinsons suppliers with the knowledge base on spring rate, rebound ect. I have a 2015 gxl the will be having dual batteries, bullbar, winch and rear draws and fridge. Any help would be much appreciated.

I know a bit about the Dobinsons gear, thats what we mainly use.
C59-352 in the front & 327 or 10 or 20mm longer version of 327 for rear.

I have OME under my 2013 GXL. Cannot fault it. It does not give you the full 50mm lift that other setups do. I know that it made my trip up Blue Rag a squillion times better than my trip the year before on stock suspension...Spilsy

Hi,
Ive got a GXL 2014 with ARB bar, Winch , Dual batteries, lights and a fridge with the 30mm OME set up and I'm happy with it. I don't tow much, jet ski or bike trailer and I find it much better than standard, diving under brakes, change of direction etc. Well worth the $$ My ARB store is really good, nice guys, good advice and backup so I stick with them.

OME Suspension
Gday mate, i had OME 50mm lift fitted about 3or 4 months ago, and haven't regretted it, I have an ARB winch bar, bash plates, side rails and steps, just fitted a dual battery and the suspension is brilliant Ive also towed a 1500kg camper and didn't know it was there, no more nose diving under brakes, and running over the slightest bump is no where near as rough as it was, my next project, are a set of draws, roof rack, and a winch, before fitting the suspension the boys here at ARB asked me what plans i had for the car and they did the rest.
To give you an idea of the difference it made we did a trip involving some corrugations not bad but enough to make you think about your speed, my missus has no clue about anything mechanical, I'm not far behind her if it comes to that said these new springs are good its not as rough, I immediately knew I had done the right thing. I have a 2014 GXL D4D Auto and it coet me just under $1800.

I'm still searching for my Prado, so I can only speak from a Suzuki point of view...I know Prado is very different to a Vitara, but OME was regarded as the best in the Suzuki forums, feel free to correct me if the following is not the case with OME and Prado's.
I had OME on my Vitara and they were fantastic. They made the car handle better (but I suppose you'd expect compared to 10 year old stock shocks) they also had longer travel which made a noticeable difference off road (even for basic stuff), they held weight better towing (and I didn't tow anything heavy, so I imagine when pulling a caravan you'd need to get the spring rates right - don't forget if you plan to add a bull bar you may want heavier springs too)
I had them for around 90,000kms before I sold it, while I didn't measure it, I hadn't noticed any sag. They gave me the full 50mm lift plus some extra due to sag of the old suspension. When I sold it, the buyer was super excited that it had OME on it - they have a great rep...but you also pay for it. I think it cost me $1100 supplied (fitted by me), which was cheaper than retail. If I recall correctly, I could have got king springs and <I forget the shock brand> for around $600 - so half price at retail.
I'm not sure if the Prado has adjustable camber? But don't forget if you raise (or lower) a vehicle, chances are you'll need to adjust the camber - so you may have to factor in some camber pins and you will need a wheel alignment.

I used to have 5" lifted patrol and dont want the hassles of extended sway bar links and brake lines ect as this is a family tourer.
Dobinsons have got travel lengths spot on. I'm currently running a fresh set of their twin tubes & super happy.
We just got back from bouncing them around on the sand at Fraser so they have been given a fair run.
The rears are just over 600mm & they work perfectly for travel combined with brake line & sway bar travel.
The fronts are in the 550+ range which gives full droop measurements of 565-580mm ish, good down travel but they are not too long so they risk c/v joint damage from too much angle.
The front travel lenth was recently revised & I couldn't be happier with it. :-)
Only about $1400-1500 fitted.
