I'm still recommending checking injectors each service & replacing them @ 120,000k.
That is for pre DLC injectors.
You can see the damage on the command pistons, no microscope needed!
Those had within spec readings, but a bit rattly, heck I wonder why......
The injectors are moving damn quick, but it ain't happening smooth like that.
Bodgy old nozzle needle
There's always new information, everyday. I wish I could share what I've learned, plug you in.
But unfortunately you only get snippets. I'm trying to help prevent engine seizures & cracked pistons.
Anyway, I can confirm DENSO Injectors built from at least sometime in 2010, that are in 2012-2013 ish onwards vehicles are DLC coated. Not only are they coated, it's in all the areas it's needed.
That includes the back of the solenoid valve.
Compare
See the wear on the back of the solenoid valve? The coated ones are black. Smooth as silk.
Compare the pair. Non coated 100,000k, yuk!
Coated 260,000k & nice!
How's this for a nice long life nozzle needle?
IMO this is what you want at 240-300k
So 120k for the old crap, or get them out ASAP.
I'm estimating 240k from DLC gear.
Some will last longer, some will have issues, fuel contamination.
But as a same same comaro, I'm saying I think you will see at least double Klm's from coated DENSO DLC.
Like always you have to be care full where you source your Injectors, some old stock & wrong part numbers are still around.
As usual there will be more updates as things change, they do change, always evolving.
I hope a lot of you are smiling, I am.
Cheers,
