  • Just purchased a Prado

    Good morning everyone,
On Monday arvo I went to John Hughes in Vic Park(WA), and traded in my immaculate 2010 XR5
    On a 2005 Prado GXL.
The vehicle appears to be completely stock, 152000km, 4.0 V6, 6 Speed Manual, Gold in colour.
I usually travel overseas 2-3 times a year, however in June was diagnosed with cancer and a tumour in left lung.
The Prado will allow me to tour Australia instead.

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

First of all I am sorry to hear about your diagnoses mate and welcome to PP.

You have scored a low km 120 Series there. Well done.

If you plan on doing some long distance, first of all you might consider a bull-bar and some good driving lights. I suppose it all depends on your budget too.

So keep positive number 1 priority. Hope treatment doesn't knock you about too much. I would take vehicle to a 4wd workshop that deals with Toyota's(who doesn't) and get a thorough check and service. Then I would be off and enjoy it. Good luck with everything. Cheers Brian

You seem to have done what i did as well. Cancer was my trigger for my Prado as well. Little over two months after purchase, we have done Moreton Island, Bribie Island and a few local tracks. Fraser, Simpson and Nullarbo on the drawing board.

What needs to be done on the vehicle is largely governed by what you intend to use it for. If you tell the folks here what your wishes are, you will likely get many suggestions.

        Best of luck with everything!
2.8L Kakadu (Chrystal Pearl). Extras - Snorkel, tow-bar, tint & bonnet protection. Wish list - Bash-plate, diff breather extension
