  • ARB Bullbar rattle

Does anyone else find that the guards on the under side of the bar rattle a little? I especially find it with the centre guard bit where it joins onto the OEM sump guard?
Has anyone found a solution to this?

Mine was rattling the other day, I noticed that I had lost one of the upper bolts. Other than that its been fine.

Just tighten up any loose bolts. They shouldn't rattle.

Mate i ended up taking all the panels off, applying foam tape to the areas and re-bolting.
i also removed the "clip in nuts" and replaced with panel nuts.
recently i drove over some rough stuff up north - corrugations. no problems whatsoever.

that said the ARB bars wobble like a fat woman's behind. IMHO

It's not the bar wobbling you doodles, it's the cab moving separately to the chassis to which the bar is mounted. I welded all the nuts on the inside of the bull bar which hold the side wings and lower plate before getting the bar coated. Stainless bolts and a little bit blue lock-tite.

Then you need to flick the pathetic tin lower bash plate and get something with some substance.

Have a look at the big cylindrical rubber mounts that your body sits on. These absorb much of the vibrations and movement and insulate the body from the chassis and driveline, hence the movement. If the bar was to wobble eventually it would fatigue and snap off. I have never seen an ARB bar do that - Iron Man yes and OEM alloy bar yes.

Bushbasher is exactly right. That movement will be seen on any bar.

One more thing to check, if you have a winch with steel wire the fairlead rollers rattle like mad.

Thats right the body moves on the chassis the bar is solid to the chassis it does not move.

Looks pretty crap, maybe a welding job for someone.

Finally pulled mine apart yesterday to find the rattle and narrowed it down to the centre plate. Never got to fix it though because I came across the crappy job done installing the fog and indicator lights on my bar and had to fix that. Also found that the wire on the back of the indicator/parker setup had rubbed though on the cut part of the bumper...
                            Not too happy!
