  • Where have you put your AMP?

Hey everyone. I'm going to have an aftermarket stereo with amp installed into my 120 series.

The most common place to put an amp is under one of the front seats. After camping at Dargo and going through river crossings and having the door seals leak water into the car (and taking the carpet out, cleaning and drying. What a job!) I'm not too keen on having the amp under the seats.

Where else has anyone put an aftermarket amplifier?

    Cheers,

    Daniel.

Hey mate, since I don't do water crossings I was thinking under the seat too. But the other option is to mount it behind the sub woofer box - if you go down that path but that will also cause issues.

In my commodore, the Amp was mounted to the Sub box.
There are numerous places it could rest in the back of a Prado

Not installing a sub woofer. Also wasn't too keen on mounting it on the carpet at the back of the Prado as the car's used for camping and that's usually filled up with crap (one of the reasons I didn't want a subbie). What about behind the plastic sides in the back, in between the metal outer and plastic inner? Any foreseeable issues there?

I am in the same situation, I actually don't want to fit the amp to the floor. I was going to mount it to a sub box but means I will always have to carry the sub.

I am thinking I will just install a good head unit and decent speakers. Leave it like that, will still sound better than the standard!
