...mmm, when you look at the image of the jack in the recall notice it looks really similar to the standard Toyota Jack in the Prado...similar shape and color. Hopefully its not the same, but gee it looks similar.

The recall is for non-compliant labelling and instructions, not a physical defect.

I went for their 2000 kg model as 1200 would be overloaded on a 2.5t vehicle

Very Funny though ... the "issue" is the following:

What are the defects?
Affected vehicle jacks do not comply with the labelling or instruction requirements in the mandatory standard for vehicle jacks, which is based on the Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2693:2007 because the prescribed safety information and warnings were not included on either the packaging or the jack itself.

IMO - it does not mean the jack is useless, just some numb-nut forgot to add some safety labels to it...
- like, do not jack when car is at 35degree angle on a muddy slope next to a gushing river
- or, do not jack and lie under car with wheel off

- or, do not jack and lie under car with wheel off

-do not push car whilst up on jack
-do not put head in between jack & vehicle....

Good point, but i bought it for supporting bike engines, so about 75kg.
