  • ARB Bullbars + Suspension

    Hi all,
First post and sorry in advance if this topic has been lodged already (or posted in the wrong section)

Ok, So I've just bought a 2016 GLX Prado and I'm looking at the ARB Deluxe bullbar. Can any suggest a good place to get them from and install.. And I've been reading some horror stories about crappy installs and "Rusting".
Oh and I guess suspension will have to be upgraded as well so any advice welcome.. PS I'm not loaded with cash but I don't want cheap nasty stuff LoL

    I'm based in Perth WA.

    Welcome Loop.

I have a 2014 Prado and have been running around on Stock suspension with a TJM bar and second battery in the front for about 18 months.
It tends to dive in the nose under hard braking but not as bad as i expected.
Front is sitting arouind 10 - 15 mm lower. Booked in for suspension next week.
Good call save you cash and get quality stuff.

Some talk HERE about the need for susp upgrades.

I'm in Perth also, got mine from City Toyota, i had them fit the ARB bar as part of the car package so its all inside the one car loan etc.
I think they did a good job on the install.

Hey Loop, maybe a bit on the expensive side but I've had a lot of friends use Offroad Equipment (ORE) in Myaree and heard nothing but good things.

I got my Ironman bar installed down here in Bunbury along with bash plates and suspension, the installer made the comment that it was a good thing I upgraded the suspension as the bar and plates added a bit of extra weight which made the stock suspension sag, but keep in mind that was mainly due to the added weight of front to back bash plates.

The list is forever growing.

Cheers Jordan, I went to ARB Rocko the other day and had a chat. Also went to Ultamate4wd in Bibra Lakes.
Not much price Difference in Bullbar (ARB did say 10% off parts.. not labour).

I did get a little stumped with suspension as ARB offered Oldman Emu that give roughly 2inch lift.. With Ulti4wd they offered a Blistien EFS kit.. then on top of that a 2inch lift kit so I was more $$$ with Ulti4wd.
Suspension with ARB about $1900 fitted
Suspension with Ulti4wd about $4400 fitted
NOTE: note exact prices but close

Maybe someone could clarify the difference?

There is absolutely no way to justify $4400 for springs, shocks & wheel alignment. Was there anything else in that quote? UCAs? Diff drop? Extended brake lines? Gold plating? Seriously, Bilsteins and springs should cost around $1400 + installation.

The ARB quote is about what I would expect for a basic 50mm lift.

So the 2inch lift Kit is around $1900 and Bilstein EFS kit around $2500.. towbar and bullbar also on the quote so almost 8k for everything.. No Gold bling or fluffy dice included..
ARB are cheaper.. but maybe 4x4 stores don't like new people with 4x4's haha

That is two options for suspension I suspect. One being whatever their generic suspension setup is, the other being the Bilstein/EFS kit. You do not need both. They do sound on the more expensive side though, but I'm not really sure exactly what they are quoting on and what the going rate is on WA tax.

they have decent pricing not the cheapest but have fantastic fitters in the back. i fitted all mine myself bullbar + suspension, so i am not sure what the charge was.

I have just put an OME 2inch lift in my 150 after driving around for about 12 months with Bullbar bash Plates and the last 6 months side rails and and steps, there is a definite change for the better in ride and and no nose diving when applying the brakes, very happy ive done it now
