I have IPF 900's and wouldn't buy them again. For the price I think there are better out there and LED has certainly come a long way in quality and price.
regarding the illuminate 9 inch LEDs. I got a pair for $219. I didn't get the 4wd super centre wiring harness on advice that the harness it self may not have substantial automotive cable and a cheap relay, so we wired them ourselves.
Very happy indeed. They come with removable clear and interchangeable diffuser lenses, and they are certainly solid construction. I've used them for about a month now, and done a couple of trips, and they are great.
I have compared them with HIds and LED light bar combinations, and they can't compete with that combination on illumination, but they beat that combination on price by a mile, and the Illuminators are definitely bright enough for me, no question.
im not sure a video will really show what you need....I recon unless you want to pay almost three times the price or more, you won't effectively notice much difference in practical situations. I'm happy with them so far.

x2. Very good quality for the price, Aussie made and each part can be replaced independently without having to buy whole units.

I have these and converted them to HID myself, easy to do and a relatively cheap upgrade.

Could you tell more on how you wire them yourself? Did you have to buy other wire, relay, etc?

I've just got back from a few days driving up to Mt Isa, including quite a few hours at night. I'd just fitted a Stedi ST3300 31" light bar (replacing a cheapo light bar that didn't seem to do much and 2 x Aldi HID lights). The light bar was good for the sides but, to be honest, I don't feel like it helped me see a lot further down the road (a bit further but not lots). I suspect that driving on long straight tar roads is probably the hardest test for lights - the black tar doesn't "light up" very easily. When I went around the occasional corner I could see the trees lit up in the distance (so it does go a reasonable distance).

Do the "Illuminators" go much further than normal headlights? Today they are on special for $209 delivered + 10 issues of magazine.

I saw Stedi have some new lights out too - "8.5 INCH INFERNO 320W" - but they are $590 which is quite a lot more.

i dont think their (total) prices change, they just change the postage price up and down to account for the 'discount' they are giving

I can't see how arranging the LEDs into a circle, rather than a long rectangle, makes the Illuminators (or any LED-based spotlight) more of a 'spotlight' that would give extra distance. I have a very nice 23inch LED Light Bar, but in no way can it match what I used to get from my old 100W halogen Lightforce 240 Blitz Spotties. Nothing beats a big mirror. So I would expect the best value spotlight is going to be the cheapest HID-based light you can find, as they have single bright light sources with a big mirror. Compare just within the LightForce range: 210 Genesis HID has 1Lux at 1350M; the LED 215 is 1Lux at 912M. I know the Flyryts use halogen, but I prefer the whiter light of HID and they use much less power. Now I just need to find a pair that I can afford, without being cheap and nasty.

9 inch round Illuminator LED spot lights.

Left image shows high beam only, right image I have the spots on a few seconds later. (The Iphone image doesn't do them justice unfortunately)...and one of the LED lights was pointing a bit too far downwards. I love em!

They are very good value as far as I am concerned. $205 for a pair, strong metal case and adjustable metal brackets, very solid, they are bright enough for me.

With respect Bob, clearly you haven't seen the performance of the current generation of round LED lights! You certainly made me laugh at the comments of the 100W halogens and I'd encourage you to meet-up with someone with quality LED 'spotties' and see just what you're missing out on...

FWIW I have the LED215's and a workmate the HID's and to say he's dissapointed is an understatment. Personally I see no reason to be able to see 1350 or even 912M down the road and one of the reasons I was glad I upgraded by halogen powered IPF' spots was the dismal performance of a couple of pencil beams. Spread is what I want and the round lights really do a good job of both spread and distance in my opinion.
                        Cheers

Current generation round LED lights vs current generation LED light bars? You didn't answer my question about how arranging them in a different pattern gives them better distance. Since the OP asked about 'spotties', not driving lights, I'm assuming he's after distance. 1 lux is the standard measurement used, and is only enough to read something (ie not super bright). Its not about being able to see 912M down the road, I'm simply comparing apples to apples with some real numbers. I've had enough close calls with our wildlife even in broad daylight, and want as much distance as I can get.

I've wondered the same thing - I can't see how it makes any difference whether they are in a line (bar) or circle.

I had hoped the deeper reflectors on the Stedi ST3300 would make it go further but I think the fundamental problem is the way LEDs emit light - they emit most of their light forward and so there isn't as much hitting the reflector as there is with a halogen/HID bulb. So while they are more efficient (in a lumens per watt way) they don't direct the light forward as efficiently (as in lux at xxx m)

Gents even though I can't explain it, it is so!

I would think though that it has something to do with the light-bar reflectors being a different shape to all of the round LED lights that I have seen.

Dont take my word for it, have a read of two recent Unsealed Issues:
