  • Timing belt and water pump on 1KD

I am approaching 150k, so that means timing belt, and it seems that there might be a water pump issue too, bit of pinkish residue on the timing belt cover, and the pullies around the water pump.

Currently in bit of financial squeeze, so I am going to do the repairs myself, so I am slowly gathering all the info I need.

Since I will be changing the pump and the timing belt, what other things should I change while I have it all taken apart? I am also thinking about putting in the EGR 7 mm blocking plate while there, and clean up the valve.

I have done none of this before, but I feel confident I will be able to manage, I have some manuals and I watched some youtube videos.

If there is some good soul there which has done this before, and would have a list of parts that I might need including the original Toyota part numbers, so that I can get them cheaper from Middle East, I would be most grateful.

Any tips on the procedure would be great too. I am planning to do this sometimes next month, so there is no great urgency.
This is for 120 2007 with D4D engine.

    Thank you

Replace the timing belt tensioner, it makes the job easier.

    tensioner 1354067020 ($40)

    belt 1356839016 ($57)

    pump water 16100690100 ($266)

pulley (may be okay) 1350567041 ($52)

Thanks Bushbasher, just as I got your reply, I started to check what I might need, and came up with this list from Partsouq, your part number for the pump is different though.

      1610069356 PUMP ASSY, WATER 104.62$
      1354067020 TENSIONER ASSY, 29.90$
      1350567042 IDLER SUB-ASSY 55.39$
      1355667010 SHAFT, TIMING BELT 6.62$
      1356839016 BELT, TIMINNG 37.33$

These are US$ and postage is U$55.83, total around A$400 including delivery. These are all Toyota parts, there were options for cheaper replacement parts, but I guess I would rather stick with Toyota parts and get another 150k out of them.

The shaft, might be bit redundant, but since the idler pullie sits freely on it, might as well change it I guess.
Anything else I should be changing?

And I have worked out that my Prado is KDJ120R GKAEYQ :-)

Shaft? Never heard of it. Those parts are fine. I replaced my water pump when I had to fix the alternator and alternator bracket. I had all the pulleys off as well as removing the fan, made life easier.
