  • Please help, 95 series diesel most dash lights on when running, remote WA

I'm away on a long trip , most of my dash lights stay on after the engine is started.
Prado runs fine, but they won't go out.
Engine ignition left in on position without engine running for 15 minutes. ( mate had flat tyre)
I've disconnected the battery's, no change.
Happened on Good part of the Gunbarrel Highway, now at ,Wiluna.
2002 Prado Auto Diesel, no engine mods.
Lights on are, air filter, brake warning, water in fuel, yellow oil,
    Any help greatly appreciated.

How long did the battery get disconnected for?

About 25 minutes while waiting for mates to refuel at Carnegie Station, then I had to move on.
I've now left it off over night at Meekatharra, and about to reconnect it.

          Alternator gone....
1hz landcruiser fits with minor mods and will be easier to find out there
          Check your charge fuse
Use a multimeter to check battery voltage then start it an recheck if nothing changes or goes down its not charging
The alt regulator is what turns all the lights off

I've checked all fuses, under dash and engine, check battery voltage 13.38 volts no load, 12.18 lights on only, 13.25 engine running with lights on.
            Same fault.
Sunday in Meekatharra, not many options for spares.
My alternator is new before this trip 8000 km.

When I had that issue with mine it was the alternator but looks like you have checked that already.. Cheers

I'm still open for any help...

Is there a way to clear errors from the ECU on a 95 series Prado Diesel?

all the lights coming up wont be from the ecu
How did you check the fuses? Look or test?

Voltage sounds low for engine running, indicators symptomatic of a faulty charging system, are sure the alternators ok?

Does this vehicle have "light check relay" that is used to lite all dem lites at start up so you can check if they are still all working?

I know these were common years ago but prado probably has LED indicator lamps.

                      Cheers,

                        Thanks for all the help,
I've made it to west coast.
When i unplug the lead to the alternator, the dash lights that stay on go out.
I am thinking the alternator is faulty.
Can you just replace the output regulator, or is it best to replace the whole alternator again?

Another symptom is the headlights would turn off automatically when the engine was switched off, now they stay on.

                        I'm still open to suggestions.

Dose any body have a circuit diagram for the Alternator and the outputs? I dont have a service book with me!!!

                        Thanks in advance...
