My petrol/lpg Prado is idling rough on both fuels, when I were investigating why I could hear a whistling/air being sucked in sound and eventually traced it to the atmospheric hose on the charcoal cannister, does this mean the charcoal cannister is stuffed, I cant find much info on how the internals on them work but from my limited understanding it shouldn't be sucking in the amount it is (enough to make a whistling sound. I thought I might just block it of to see if that makes much difference but then realised it might then suck from the fuel tank so am thinking of just blocking the vacuum hose that goes to the cannister and fitting a breather on the line to the fuel tank, aside from legalities is there any issue with doing this?
some other possible pertinent information is
*It has been backfiring a reasonable amount on LPG.
*I did relocate the charcoal cannister to HERE about a year ago.
