I saw that also, must be an issue with their page because

1: They also list it written that Prado 02 - 09 model supported
2: Another member (Nardoth) - page 1 has already installed one and its working fine

Pictures from his install are on page 1

      Hence i went with it

Emailed Joying yesterday and they informed me that they will advertise a new Prado lollipop 5.1.1 next week, the following is an extract from that email:

        Paul from Joying wrote;
We have produced android 5.1.1 version, just only no advertise online,we will list it online next week.

The android 5.1 is the android 4.4 elevated version. The difference is:

        1)The android 5.1 has voice control,but android 4.4 doesn't have.

2)The android 5.1 bluetooth call quality is better than android 4.4.

3)The android 5.1 can download more APP than android 4.4.

4)The android 5.1 has NFC function: (comes with NFC sticker)
Built-in NFC inductor, which allow you to connect or disconnect Bluetooth quickly from your phone.

The appearance and other functions are the same.

The price of the special head unit for Toyota prado is 535AUD(package content include 1x android head unit,1x prado power cable,1x Canbus box,1x mini USB,1x external mic,1x GPS antenna,1x user maunal,1x remote controller)

I look forward to reviewing this next week

So the H/U arrived yesterday THIS is the unit , i had a bit of time today so i thought i would have a crack at installing it.

          NAILED IT!!

Took me literally less than 30 mins from start to finish, plug and play EASY AS!!

          • I sat the GPS on the Climate control box - plenty of room there.
          • Routed the USB, 3g/USB and the AUX inputs into the glove box.
          • Im not going to run an amp or external mic so i left these plugs in the box for down the track should i change (great that this is modular)
          • Bluetooth - Phone and Music works great
          • DVD works a treat
          • Steering wheel controls work also - had to program - again VERY easy
          • GPS Sat Nav - great

So for the price of the unit you can't go wrong, time will tell for quality and longevity.
As for fitment - i had no issues fitting mine in the space provided - was a snug but not overly tight fit and i have no issues with the CD/DVD's going in.

I haven't had a good play around with everything just yet, just checked to make sure the dot points above worked for me

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has - i leveraged off quite a few threads to do this (dash removal, this thread for purchasing and many other for general how to's) so i'm happy to give back by answering any questions you all may have.
Pictures, look i took a couple, but at the end of the day they look no different to other threads that have lots of step by step pictures and so on.

          Conclusion

For a sub $400 H/U you cant go wrong, it has so many features runs Android 5.1 does whats it's meant to do straight out of the box, i just hope the unit lasts, only time will tell.

          Speak soon.

          EDIT:

            Hi guys

After having reviewed the latest Joying Android 5.1.1 JY-TQ136L, I found that the front panel measured 228mm x 137mm. This is clearly too big for the Prado (this contradicts what Joying are state in their product specs).

I have just pushed the GO button for the purchase of the Xtron android 5.1 ( the same model as Trinedy), I look forward to the installation & testing

            Cheers texasbh

25th July have completed installation, very straight forward with an exact fitment. All functions seem to work fine, THE only exception is the OBD2 function. I'm finding that the OBD2 Elm unit will pair with my Samsung phone but will not pair with Xtron unit.

If any of you guys have any info, it would be greatly appreciated, in the mean time I'll continue to fiddle

26 July, All fixed and working great

              Hi Guys

Quick question for the people that have installed Xtrons the size mentioned is 205 x 105 but when I measure that wont fit seems to be 200 x 100 so a bit confused. Am I missing something?

              Thanks

Are you referring to the exact model I listed above? If so its a snug fit, but no modification required

                  Hey texasbh

Just noticed you edited your post around the install -we don't get notifications of edits (or i dont know how to turn it on haha)- best to just put a new reply mate
Great to see it up and working for you, How do you find the Inbuilt Mic? people i'm talking with are finding my voice a bit muffled - i'm going to buy a external mic very shortly that should sort the issue.

                  Cheers.

Hi Trinedy, Thanks for the advise re editing/ new reply.

In terms of the units performance, it's great. Like you, I have ordered an external mic.

Just have 1 question for anyone with this unit, I want to connect 2 rear view cameras. One for reversing & one for the caravan, any suggestions on how to wire/ connect with this unit??

                    any advise would be great

                    Cheers Texasbh

                      hey mate

Do you want the unit to switch to rear camera each time reverse is selected and signal is fed through for each camera or would you be happy manually selecting the camera on the unit for the Caravan and running the rear view camera through as normal (when you select reverse the camera shows)?

If it's the first option the only way i could think this would work is to run both feed wires from each camera to somewhere central and accessible (glove box) running into a switch box and then feeding off that into the back of the unit into the rear view RCA. you would then need to manually select the camera you want the feed to come from and then that would show on the screen - prob the best option as it's just something you select when you hook the trailer up.

2nd option would be to run each camera feed to the back of the unit, one into the AUX in and one into the rear view camera in - i would put the Caravan camera in the AUX and the Car rear view in the reverse RCA in the back of the unit.

                      Hope that made sense.

Thanks for the quick response, option 2 would be my preferred option however you have confused me with your descriptions for the connections.
I'm looking at the connection sent with the unit, I have two different adaptor lead plugs one with the following connection.
                        1 tag reading DR-V IN
                        1 tag reading VIDEO IN
                        1 tag reading AUX-R
                        1 tag reading AUX-L
                        1 tag reading TV=IR
A total of five input plugs for this adaptor lead

The other adaptor lead plug has seven input pugs however I believe these are all speaker plugs & video out plugs for the head rest screens.

Can you please advise which plugs I should be using

                        Cheers Texasbh

Hey mate apologies, DR-V IN and VIDEO IN would be the ones, both will be yellow iirc

Hey mate just looked a bit further into this looks like you have to go with option 1 and use video in, looks like you need to install a Dvr to use the DR-V input.... I will have a look at this over the coming days and test ok

                                Hello All,

I am new to pradopoint this is my first post. I am interested in this thread because am looking at similar Joying headunit.

Yesterday I checked behind my existing head unit and was shocked to discover the previous owners (or who they paid to install it) had butchered the factory harness. Rather than buying an ISO harness to fit to head unit, they have removed some (not all) of the wires from two of the factory connector blocks and joined them directly to the head unit harness. They only used tape to wrap the connections (no solder on joint!) so i unwrapped one of them to find (lucky for me), that they have not cut off the pin on the end of factory wire that came out of the connector block.

However, now i want to install this new head unit and wish to fit an ISO harness between factory wiring and head unit, but do not know where each of these wires needs to go back in the connector block.

I have the prado manual on CD but could not figure out which was the correct diagram that matches the factory wiring colours for my vehicle. 120 series KDJ120R-GKAEYQ built April 07.

The factory connectors are described below. see attached photos.

First one has two rows, 6 pins on top and 4 pins on bottom (2 middle positions on bottom not used)
the connector still has four wires connected to it but was not plugged into anything.
                                Pink, Purple, Black and Yellow
From the harness the following wires had been removed and connected directly to the head unit harness
Black to Blue (labelled as P Ant on HU harness)
                                Brown to Black
                                Blue-Yellow to Yellow
                                Grey to Red
                                Green not connected

Second one has two rows, 4 pins on top and 2 pins on bottom (2 middle positions on bottom not used)
the connector still has one wire connected to it but was not plugged into anything.
                                White-green stripe
From the harness the following wires had been removed and connected directly to the head unit harness
                                Black to Green
                                Yellow to Green-black
                                Red to Purple
                                White to Purple-black

Can anyone help me figure this out? point me in the right direction. i am no auto electrician but could get this sorted with a few pointers from someone with the knowledge
to find the correct wiring diagram and connector terminations.
