Latest Maps Version for Prado Navigation System

When I was discussing with my dealer when the car was delivered, he told me that his service department had told him that new maps were due late this year.

But then again, as we have seen they seem to have about as much idea of what is going on as we do (or less.....)

Just sent a text off to the dealer asking them about getting these loaded into my September 16 Kakadu..... lets see how this goes.

As six weeks has passed since the "guest experience centre" promised to respond, I contacted them again to jog their memory. I asked for a 2015 map which I feel should have been supplied in my December 2015 Prado.
I received a reply which was very apologetic for the delay but saying as expected no to my request.
I will spare you the detail and excuses for the age of the maps but one line did offer some hope? it said:
"we can assure you that we are undertaking a full review which will involve understanding the global situation."

WTF does the rest of the world have to do with updating Australian mapping?

Typical spin doctoring from the f***wits that are employed by Toyota H.Q. (I received a similar dumb reply regarding a question I sent them). Most of them could not work out how to spin a 'spinning top' between them.

I received this today from Toyota:

"We can advise there are later versions and the most current Micro SD Card which was released this month, which is the Q4 2015 Maps version, Part Number, 86271-0E173. The most up to date maps version, currently available for purchase can be obtained via the spare parts department at your preferred local Toyota Dealership."

It took 1 year to release those maps? New product 1 year out of date??? I doubt the above statement is correct.

In case of my car I got maps 2 years out of date ...

There's one being sold on eBay for $120 at the moment The release of these 2015 maps goes against their previous statement that they update maps once every 2 years though? I'll head down to my dealer on Wednesday to see if I can get this update for free.

I thought that Toyota said there will be an update end of this year - is that it then?

My May 2016 VX has the 2014 Q4 maps. I wonder if the inclusion of 4wd tracks slows down the release cycle?

I have had ongoing communication! Firstly informing me that the dealer had "version 22" maps for me. I emailed back saying that I understood version 22 was for older DVD based systems.
Yesterday I received a more conciliatory response from the guest experience centre which does actually look more promising although not quoting the part number posted by Kapitan. Thanks to him for posting this information, I will send this on hoping that this is the map I will get. At least I will then have a 2015 map in a 2015 vehicle, not like the poster above who purchased a new vehicle with almost two year old maps.

As for the time taken to release maps a quick search reveals that 2016 Q2 can easily be downloaded for stand alone devices.
It has always puzzled me why Toyota seem to need nearly a year to "integrate the map to the vehicle" (their words) I think it is the same old story that nobody ever questions "the system" to see if this timespan is necessary. They just seem to accept that this is how the company works.

Just received this via e-mail from my local Toyota Dealership:

"regarding your SD Card I have spoken to my parts department they say that this park number doesn’t exist. The most current one is 86271-0E172"

... one could write a case study from this on how NOT to treat your consumers ... lucky they have good cars because the local Australian sales and marketing (commercial) arm lost the plot long time ago ...

I hope that cuda reads this and posts what he heard from his dealer, I don't like to quote him without his permission but I think his dealer said something along the lines of:
"The DVD version has been released but not the SD card"

Meanwhile I am still waiting for a response from the guest experience centre after emailing them the part number 86271-0E173

Hi All,
Anyone know if the latest Maps is available on DVD ( what Version/year .) and the pricing please? I have a VX 2011 model and I'm after an upgrade....
