  • D4D Sticker

Okie Dokie...here comes a question that will probably show how much "looks" matter to me.

The passenger side D4D sticker has taken a beating - by some sort of chemical (which I think came from the local carwash) - and is looking a bit, well, awful:

Is there anywhere I can get my hands on one of these? and does anyone have any tips on removing and replacing?

Genuine Toyota, cost was about $30 if I recall correctly (I priced mine before I removed them incase I didn't like the look). Park it outside in the sun and get it nice and hot then peel it off. A bit of heat from a hairdryer wouldn't hurt either. Then use wax and grease remover to clean up the area before replacing the sticker. Once the new sticker is there don't forget to polish and wax the surrounding area because the wax and grease remover has taken all that paint protection off. If it is really stubborn go see a panel beater and get them to take it off with a "caramel wheel"

Would it be worth hitting up eBay for a "non genuine" set as per HERE

Up to you, the genuine one hasn't lasted really well so it might be worth a shot

For $10, I guess if it doesnt work out, its not a whole lot of cash wasted. Might do a bit of research into the material they use...see what I can find out.

I have a black Prado with no stickers, anyone know what colour stickers it should have? I've seen some on black ones that look a bit off white and others look white, are the off white ones just faided white? or is there a special colour toyota do?

I bought a set for my 120 series "3.0 Turbo Intercooled" from the same seller and that was just over 12 months ago and they have been great.

TBH, if it was MY car, I would look at something more of a SILVER colour for the lettering. But that's just my opinion.

I finally had enough with my drivers D4D sticker. I have Venetian blinds outside my carport window and all I can see is a crooked sticker.

Went to Toyota and bought a new sticker for $19+ gst and heated the old one up, wax and greased removed and stuck the new one on.

Genuine ones come as a stencil and fit both sides. Parts depot told me they sticker them up at the docks and clearly just slap them on, Now when I see a 150, I glance at the rear sticker and frown at Toyota for their quality control of such a simple item. - end of rant
