    I wanted to upgrade my 2008 SWB to a 2016 SWB. Upon inquiry, the dealer claims that the car cannot be had with a Cruise Control!!!! I went there, fought, reasoned, begged, to no avail. I read about retrofitting a Cruise on the 120 Series, but also read its impossible on the 150....

    The same dealer (the only one in the country) orders corollas with Cruise Control. They claimed that Toyota would not supply this car with cruise, even though the same car with German, Russian, or British specs come with Cruise as standard. How very frustrating.

      I had several of both versions for many years, I am currently on my 6th Prado, I found the SWB to be much better offroading and does not bottom out as much. I bought a 3 door Jeep TJ for offroading duties but I would still like to sell both and get a 2016 SWB Prado with a Cruise Control.

        Haha - not everyone needs 5 doors. Most of the time, I am the only one in the car - and IMO, 5 doors/7 seats is a waste, considering I would have to get Kakadu to get the features that I want. Can't justify it though.

        When I had VT commodore - brother of one of my friends asked me "you've got a big family?". I asked why - he said you drive commodore. Lol - Not that it bother me - one of the best manual cars that I drove.

            I'm driving a short wheel base with cruise control with a manual 6 speed transmischen.
            it is not a high spec. just the middle one with reverse camera and aircon. nothing else. so it must be a simple bolt on.
            order one, I'm sure there is way to retrofit a cruise control.

                  I actually have two other Jeeps, one is a 4 Door Sahara for schools run duty (wife's choice) and a 2004 TJ (4.0 6 Cylinder) which I use for offroading because I do not think the 2008 Prado SWB 2.7L I have now have enough grunt to make up the very steep dunes we have here.

                    I am trying to order a Euro-spec SWB, I doubt that the dealer would budge though!

                      Yup, dealer told me to go screw myself, the only way I can get Cruise on a SWB Prado is in 2018, I guess I can wait it out because I only have about 69K on my Prado, so practically new Sill trying to figure out how to retrofit the OEM Cruise Control, if only someone can provide me with clear photo of the wires in the steering wheel.

                        That sound odd to me - especially since the LWB comes with it standard.
                        I wouldn't imagine the wiring harness is altered for the front half of a SWB, which means the cruise wiring should still be there!

                          It is an odd mix with no sure way of knowing whether a car is prewired for Cruise, either LWB or SWB, 150 or 120. If anyone has photos of the wires that go into the steering wheel clock spring for a car that has OEM cruise, it would be highly appreciated. I already ruined one cruise control wire, there is little room for trial and error because those darn pins are almost impossible to take out. Does Toyota have a special tool to remove pins from clips?
