  • 150 Aircon Issues

    Hi all,

Well the aircon stopped working in my less than 12 month old Prado last week. Took it to my local Toyota and they have found a pipe that has been rubbing against another and (/shock) it's my fault so no warranty !! Mechanic said that someone has moved/bent the pipe and caused it to fail. I have sent an e-mail off to Toyota Australia as the pipe in question can only be seen when standing on the bulbar. It was hard enough even to take a picture of it with the phone. I fail to see how anything has been put down there to cause this. In the attached picture it is the pipe underneath the one with the blue and green tape.

Anyone else had an issue with this pipe?

do you have a dual battery system?
Has the pipe been pushed across to clear the battery?

Nope. No dual battery system. The only thing even close to it is the Catch can installation, which is only in the vicinity. All hoses to that are at the top of the motor and this pipe is down near the guard.

        ok.

I have heard of issues where the pipe has been pushed out to fit the Aux battery.
so not sure where your pipe may have been bent.

Well the saga continues. After calling Toyota Australia who in turn called my local dealer, my 'highly modified' Prado was not able to be covered by warranty for the aircon issue. Having enough of the local dealer I took it back to the original place of purchase and explained the situation to them. The head mechanic took a look and said it was definitely a warranty job as the modification (Oil catch can) on the vehicle had nothing to do with the aircon issue.
Sanity has prevailed it seems. The guys at Watson Toyota in Young have been great to deal with. Now I just have to wait a week for the parts to come in and for it to be fixed.
