  • BFG KO2 problems

Anybody having any issues with their KO2's?
After a trip to Bellthorpe forest last week two of my tires have small chips out of the sidewall with white rubber showing through. Looks like the outer black rubber is very thin. I don't think it's a functional problem, but I'll be taking them back to the shop to have them take a look just in case. I'm guessing the white rubber has something to do with having the white lettering on this side...

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this.
There was a bit of rock on the drive but I wasn't expecting this much damage. Only around 3000km's on them.

Yes, the white rubber for the lettering takes up the sidewall. But if its showing through or chipping off I would take them back. I have K02s and have given them a bit of a hard time over rocks, low pressures on the beach, carrying loads, and haven't seen what your describing.

I had mine through some very sharp rocky ruts on the weekend, but no signs of wear on the KO2s at all, certainly no chips in the side wall. (Some pretty serious denting in the bash plates though, due to some poor driving on my behalf....)

Wow I didn't know they had special release versions, usually they are white lettering one side and black the other and the installer asks white in or out

              always out!!!!

My KO's are actually showing a little bit of chipping close to the white lettering.
But they did get a bit of a hard time last time out.
              even with low pressures

I had to laugh at my ignorance when I got mine put on. The fitter asked me if I wanted white letters in or out. I said what difference does it make? He said none at all except what camp you’re in - either the wannabe hard core 4WD letters in camp, or the show off look at me letters out camp. I said so you’re damned and judged either way? He said yes! I had no idea it was so important! So I said you choose, and walked out and left him to it. When I returned to pick up the car it turns out I’m a letters in man, and so want to appear hard core. This time. Next time? Who knows…..

Love it! One side black, one side white. Just park on one side or the other depending who you're driving with!

Haven't had a chance to get the tires looked at by the dealer yet. Doesn't look like it'll be an issue though. I may just turn them around and get the black on the outside. White lettering's getting smashed the way I'm using them so starting to look a bit rough...

I was at auto1 the other day and saw a white paint pen specifically for touching up the white lettering on tyres. Now you can write BF GOODRICH on the side of all your tires, whether they're BFG's or not!
