  • Drive disengaging in reverse under load

    G'day guys,

I've got a 98 model 95 series GXL petrol (3.4L 5Vz) and I have an issue I think with the auto.
If I reverse in high range and put it under load (usually backing up a trailer uphill) it will get to about 2500-3000 revs then the drive disengage and from the outside sounds like something has let go. Put it in Low Locked and there's no issue.

I'm thinking (hoping) there's a sensor or solenoid in the auto sensing something and disengaging. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Peter.
