  • Hi Club 4x4.

I know if I intend to go on a big trip, I need to take out the full recovery etc etc (say $15,000). Lets say I don't though...

Can I then, after three months, cancel the insurance, get a refund for the unused part, and then take out 12 months again with the recovery option added? It's not dodging the system - I am still paying a full 12 months for the recovery piece... It just seems a little more flexible to me - this way I am assured to be 'using' the recovery option rather than taking a gamble over the next twelve months...

      Hi there Camjam

Yes, you can do what you are implying - not preferred but it is doable.

You will incur a small cancellation fee if you decide to cancel your policy outside of the 21 day cooling off period.

      Cheers

          • All, I met Kalen last night at the last TLCC (Sydney) meeting of the year. As the last guest speaker for the year, he gave a run down of Club 4 X 4 vehicle and caravan insurance policies. All in all a good presentation from a very personable bloke. Phil

Kalen - Is there one? My insurance is up for renewal in less than a week...

Side question - is hitting a kangaroo considered an "at fault" claim? I reckon it's the kangaroo's fault - he jumped in front of me!

                  G'day Peter,

Unfortunately there is no active promo code at the moment. But i can get one of my team to give you a call if you provide me with your phone number and a day and time for a call.

With the animal strike, unfortunately it is an at-fault claim. I wish we could recover off a Kanga but something tells me it might be a bit challenging :-)

                  • Okay, new LC dual cab coming mid January. The basic car will be salary packaged and I'm funding all accessories myself - about $25K worth - so am looking at insurance options.

                    • Kal - your quoting system doesn't cope with a "Business" usage car financed in the name of the business - it wants the business to be a driver of the car.
I've renewed with AAMI at the moment because I'm still waiting to get damaged fixed from a Kangaroo strike in June - hopefully that will all be cleared up before Christmas and I can move over then (inside the cooling off period!)

                          Hi Peter,

The team are still looking into this and doing some testing so until i have an answer from there, we can definitely service your needs over the phone.

So if you do get yourself sorted and are ready to go, either give us a call on 1800 CLUB 4X4 (258 249) or let me know a day, time and phone number where you'd like a call and i'll get one of the team to contact you.

                          Cheers

You've got a few weeks yet - I'm waiting on a claim being finalised by AAMI so I renewed with them in the short term. Once the car is fixed I'll get a quote from you guys and, if it's ok, cancel the AAMI policy.

I know in theory I should be able to change insurers now - it's been a long enough saga so far that I don't want to risk making it any longer or give them any excuses to not pay out.

I hear you there - take your time and make sure the repair they do on the truck is up to your standard.

Not sure if you got forced into their repairer network or not, but it does pay to make sure you're 100% happy before you drive away with it. If you're not, don't let them force you to drive it away, it will go in as a rectification if there is something your not happy about.

Definitely get the process completed before you consider switching!

                              • Hi just wondered if there's any promo codes or anything now, my insurance is due start of Jan so starting to look around at who i should use. Last time I did a quote with club 4x4 (just out of interest) it was a few hundred more then aami, and yes i know it does cover more but its still a bit of a jump in price.
