I don't believe in draining Pcv onto the road ways. That is as disgusting advice as the egr problem it's self.
      Hi Anthoney,
Are you still of the opinion not to bother with catch can if you have a full block ? I have had my 120 re mapped with a full block and a few more tweeks , I had a go at putting a blanking plate in but couldn't get my hands around it and thought I might break things but did clean my inlet as far as the manifold, I know plenty of people have done it but it wasn't for me, Infinitech tuning did it for me and I must say there is plenty more power, I really wanted it done for towing my van, my older 1kz struggled so hope my 1kd will do the job a bit better, had my injectors replaced also,
Appreciate all your advice on PP AND PRADO CREW . And Roo of cause .

We removed our catch an ( Provent 200 ) when installed the OzBush mapper. Most people believe the amount of oil passing through the intercooler / intake tract is more benificial than removing it. Some have thought the oil would coat the intercooler and reduce its efficency but I don't believe it would. If anything the small amount of oil would help lube the valves.

          Hi Al,

Imo Never fit a catch can. I'm consistently finding better valve clearances & compressions with blocked egr's.
The oil is your filter, yes the Inlet will block up, but if you loose the oil, the soot/carbon goes through engine past valves & rings. The cleaner intakes, that don't have a plate yet, they have worse valves & compressions.
Plate gets rid of most or all carbon, problems fixed. The oil is also a top end lube. No it was not designed or that, but either were petrol engines for gas, remember the old oil feeders to lube the valves? They worked.
Anyway in my experienced opinion you want it wet as it is, but no or minimal soot.

One thing you certainly do want is Pcv, (positive crankcase ventilation).
Risk restricting that, or reducing its effectiveness to evacuate the crankcase & you find it gets messy under the rocker cover, then you will be definitely needing 5000k oil changes. With the 7mm plate or full blank in, it optional whether you go for 5 or 10k changes.

            • I have clearly specified here right from the beginning to use oil catch can to stop dribbling the oil.

The RTA has no issues with me.

                • So im about to pull the pin on this mod for my prado after cleaning the Inlet manifold and egr im keen to fix the issue.

Will probably remove the Heat transfer all together im wondering if i can remove the EGR Valve? Not the whole thing just cut the physical valve out so it leaves the port fully open and i can attach a BOV to release pressure for the turbo, Planning on a Plumb back to the airbox. I know i need the electrical controller to control it also.

Sorry if I misunderstood, post #17 no.3 "3... Vent crankcase gas blow-by directly to air."
It goes on talking about venting to air etc.
IMO it's encouraging venting Pcv to air. Sorry I am so confused, I'm so illiterate sometimes

Any update on the updated mapper for the face lift 150?

                      • I had the pleasure of meeting Ozbush and his family today when they dropped in for a coffee and played with my D4D. Really awesome guy, the hours went by far too quickly i would of loved to of chatted some more.

Now i see why the Ozbush Mapper device both sells well, and works well... Because it's cheap and does exactly what it says on the tin. So glad i bought one to keep the soot cakes away and keep the Prado running for many thousands of miles in the future.

Keep up the great work Ozbush, you are a true asset to us 4wd enthusiasts.

                        • Update on our mapper unit. Fitted over a year ago but the car was stationary for a while but now back in full use. Have done 20000 km so far.
Alarms to date : 1. I accidentally turned the switch off. Took a couple of hours to work it out. Scan gauge fixed this.
                          Fuel use : no change
Any other advise. Why didn't I do this earlier.
The only other bit is boost. At start off with light throttle boost can reach 15 psi before the ecu adjusts it back to 10-12 psi. This does not cause any problems but you can hear it in the snorkel. Also at idle the turbo whistles a bit more than before.

                          • Rusty62 Hi Rusty, Haven't been on site for a while now. Just seeing your post made me realise how much time has passed and how quickly. Like you my Mapper has been in just after yours. I would have put over 20k on since then with no problems. I too had the switch get bumped off in the top of the glove box. I actually didn't notice any big difference though. No fuel use difference and a bit more turbo whistle. Main thing I notice is my oil at 7,000ks is still see through on the dipstick. >>Bloody Great.... I use full synthetic 10/40 Penrite. I am at the moment down in Perth and have just traded the old single axle pop top van in for a new 17.5ft tandem axle . Of course, it has a toilet. very expensive toilet. Will see how it tows with 4 wheels. Haven't tried it yet as is in getting axles underslung for extra height. I know we are in a different section, but I may not get you in TC lock up site. I bought and fitted a Wholesale Automatics TC Lock up kit and fitted it at my nephews place. Haven't used it yet but nearly ready to start moving back towards the Top End again very soon. Just wasn't confident enough to install home made one even though I had a Leckie go over it for me. Not to worry. I'd better get off. Good to see the beast is back in full use. Have a Happy New Year mate and Cheers,Bill.

                            • Thanks Bill. We have made the T/C lock for both (Prado and 100 series) as they run the A750 gearbox. The cruiser needed a slightly different resistor to the Prado but both work really well. Ours differ a bit to others as you push the button to engage and to dis engage via the brake light circuit. In this way you cannot stall unless you come to a stop without using the brake and when i start i always have foot on brake. In the cruiser i use the electric brake controller to flash the brake light and disengage. The only time i really use the T/C lock is when towing and climbing ranges that need 3rd gear. Neither the Prado or 100 series allow the ECU to lock in 3rd. The only other time is when towing the Bushtracker (3500kg) with the cruiser. Start from standing going uphill, lift to change to 2nd, power till 2500 rpm, lift and lock T/C then feed more power. Definitely helps to keep the auto temp in check.

Just a note on the D4D lockup in 5th, watch your water temperature. Via the scangauge when locked in 5th @ 100 kph the water temp would rise to 96 deg when we were in WA in 2015. Drop to 4th locked revs up to 2500 rpm ish and temp back to 89 deg. The Toyota temp gauge barely moved.

Back to the Ozbush mapper our oil is cleaner but not clear at 10000 km change. No were near as dirty (soot laden) as before but very happy the engine is not eating its own poo. We use the Penrite 10-40 semi syn as i found the full syn had a bit more blowby oil when we had a catch can fitted. Removed this after the mapper as not needed.

Happy travels with your van. We will be in the Territory later this year as Sue and i have decided to take some time and do a lap. Might start a tread on our travels.

                              Russell.
