  • Revering camera (what do I buy?)

    Hi guys. I realise that this topic has been done before but I can't find the answers I'm hoping for. I'd like to put a reversing camera on my 120; it already has a cheapie mounted on the number plate (it looks crap and the image isn't much better). Given the lack of a place to centrally mount a camera I'm considering getting a number plate light mounted unit like you see on eBay. My questions;
    Has anyone bought one of these type units? If yes and you're happy with it can you tell me the "brand" or where you got it please.
    My wife has a new Kia with a fantastic setup, I particularly like the coloured warning lines and beeping. Is this a function of the camera? If yes do the number plate light type units have this facility? Regards, Tony

    Check out Parkmate cameras. I know Autobarn sell them but so do many others.

          Thanks guys. Can You tell me if the warning lines and proximity beeping are a function of the cameras please?

            I just wired a $30 flush mountable camera to the centre of my rear bumper to see my tow hitch. I hooked it up to the camera input of my pioneer stereo and it works a treat! I had to intercept the power from the reverse lights to activate it when in reverse. The lines come from the camera but proximity sensors provide the beeping. There may be models that combine both on the market.

              Thanks for that dibbledabble. Now we're starting to get somewhere. I want to put mine through my exiting Sony radio multimedia unit. Can I ask where you got the camera? Do you know they all have the lines as part of their system? When you say through the centre of the rear bumper do you mean on the vertical face or on the top? I'm reluctant to put one on the top as I know I'll stand on it.
