  • Manual to electric antenna conversion

Hi all, I'm changing my original 'manual' antenna for an electric one.

I have acquired and installed the up down switch and the electric antenna (plugs were already there), it doesn't go

Does anyone know if this should be plug and play? Is there something else missing on the RV's.

I can drive the antenna up and down by powering up the pins, but there is no power at the connector.

I'm hoping someone has already been down this road and I can avoid hours with my head under the dash.

    cheers,

    Rod

You are most likely missing the Antenna control relay. Should be located below the radio off to the left. Almost on the transmission tunnel. It has a dark grey 18 pin plug.

    Here is it's pinout diagram
    1. Blue/White "Up" feed from switch
    2. empty
    3. Blue/Orange "UP" output to antenna
    4. Blue/Yellow Constant power from Battery
    5. empty
    6. Blue/Black "DOWN" Output to antenna
    7. Black/Red Ignition input. Fused at ECU-IG 15A (engine bay from memory)
    8. empty
    9. Blue/Red "DOWN" feed from switch
    10. Red (shielded) This is the input from the microswitch within the antenna telling when it's reached either limit
    11. White (Shielded) This is the ground feed for the input mentioned above
    12. Black (Shielded) This is the power feed to the position and limiting circuitry inside the antenna motor.
    13. Pink/Blue this is the amplifier feed from the radio. It will show 12V+ when the stereo switches on
    14. Black/Yellow This is the auto antenna feed from the radio. This shows 12V+ when you switch over to radio from tape/CD. This is technically the main trigger to send the antenna up or down.
    15. empty
    16. empty
    17. Green/Red Accessories input. Fused at CIG 15A (under dash from memory)
    18. empty

Those colours will match up at their relevant components. Make sure that White/Black at the switch has a solid ground

      RanJ you are 100% correct.

It took all of 30 seconds to locate the lack of antenna control relay.

I'll get one and see how I go.

Thanks for your 'spot on' post RanJ

Just to close the loop, I have sourced an antenna control relay and it all works perfectly. A win all round.
