  • Brisbane to Sydney this weekend

So, is anyone else making the drive down to Sydney this weekend? Flights are just plain silly so I'm driving. Gotta pick up friends from the airport who are flying down from Townsville. I'll be leaving here early Saturday morning for a boys weekend in Sydney, home Monday night.

I do the run approx. every 6 weeks between Blue Mts and Sunshine Coast and believe the Pacific is better way with Freeway conditions between Sydney and Pt Macquarie and again between Ballina and for me Mudjimba, with a bit of roadworks between these points that can annoy you on the drive but generally better to get from point to point. The New England although less traffic and more scenic gets annoying slowing to 50km for every town.

Maybe I should hire you to tow a trailer back up to Brissy with some of my gear in it, as we are moving permanently in about 6 weeks and will have gear that I won't put on the removalist truck.

Could possibly be organised if you're quick rags, I don't have anywhere undercover to store it though, but do have a big yard with two dogs to keep it secure. What suburb are you headed to when you get up here?

Every time other than once I have gone the pac hiway, works for me, is nice and comfy drive down, could almost do it in my sleep (and may have in the past)

agreed, pacific is the best, and only getting better with more bypasses every year.

some more stopover to avoid the sleeping me thinks!

It will be good when they finish roadworks. Plenty of 40 zones still.
                It's a real p.i.t.a, glad I don't do it more than once a year.

The same caravans who can only do 90 in the 100 zone on the flat ( great stuff, good economy, no hurry) still do 110 even up the hills once you get an overtaking lane. Usual overtaking lane procedure really

true, but real tourist/holiday makers will happily drive into the towns to 'holiday'. but for the 90% of transport and commuters, the bypasses are logical.
