Urgent Assistance Needed
After reading on this topic for nearly a month, watching videos online, etc., I purchased what I needed for retro fitting the cruise control from the local dealer. The only stumbling block is how to connect the Cruise Control wire from the stalk to the steering wheel.
I know I need to insert the wires into existing pins, but which pin slots do I need to insert the wires into (looking at it from the driver's seat)? The US Tacoma models and other installations show an empty slot where the cruise control wire connector simply slots in for a 5 minute job, but that is not the case for our Prados. Does any one have a diagram of the pin connectors for the Prado showing where the Cruise Control wire connects?
The service rep "loaned" me the parts to see if they work and I need to return these to him by end of day today, any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Hey,
I think this is the wiring diagram you might be after;
On the 120 series, we have three different color wires on the J45 connector;
I'm sorry I can't remember exactly which wire carries the cruise control signal, but it's either the green or the blue. I believe the brown is the earth.
It should be easy to find out which one just by plugging in and seeing if the cruise control light comes on?
If you haven't already seen it, this video might be helpful;

Hey,
I just put a wiring diagram and a photo of the J45 connector in your "Urgent Assistance Needed" thread, hope it helps!

Hi Mark, I was always under the impression that I need to connect the wires from the Cruise Control stalk to the one on the steering wheel pad. What you are showing in your photo appears to be located 'under; the steering wheel pad. I will take another look. The OEM cable (from the dealer) has two wires coming out of it.
I have watched that video about 10 times now, appears that a red wire from the cruise control stalk is going into the second slot. I must be getting dumber as I age.
Would you have a copy of your steering pad (once you remove the steering wheel?), looks like we may have different connectors. I will get on this as soon as I get home.Last edited by BAZPRADO; 05-01-2016, 08:33 PM.

Hey,
According to the circuit diagram for the cruise control from my Gregorys manual;
...then the cruise control is the blue wire (AU2 with black stripe) and brown is the earth (EAU).
The wires from the cruise control stalk definitely connect to the steering wheel pad (which is the clock spring), in the photo below you can see;
Keep in mind you wiring connectors probably look different to these, as there are extra wires for the steering wheel controls.
The x2 wires from the cruise control stalk connect to the steering wheel pad connector (a x12 pin connector on the clock spring), which then runs down below to the J45 connector which has the wires in the photo in post #2 above.
Without the extra steering wheel control wires, when you pull everything off you have these;
Hopefully these photos will help you get your cruise connected!

After quite a bit of a struggle removing the pins from the other side of the cruise control wire, the one which goes into the clock spring, there are three wires not two as follows: white, red, and black, which wire goes where? Will I damage the car if I experiment? Will it be easy to remove the wires once they are in the connector that is attached to the clock spring?
In summary, one red wire (I assume the ground) that is connected to the steering wheel and is in the first lower right pin slot in the clock spring connector and the three wires coming from the cruise control stalk. I have to go ahead and buy the parts as I do not want to get the parts guy in trouble, still hoping this'll works if I can get a clue as to which wire goes into which slot.
