  • Redarc TowPro won't calibrate yet will do manual OK

    Hi All,
I'm only a newbie here & love the site!
I have just installed a new Redarc TowPro, wouldn't have tried it if it weren't for this helpful site.

I can't seem to get the thing into calibration mode ... It appears stuck in Manual mode.
If I leave it on 0 it is OK (green), If I switch up then I can see I getting breaks onto the trailer wire (pin 5 I think from memory), switch it high & the breaks lock up & the lights go orange -> red depending on the number I set it to.

Any advice from the kind & knowledgeable people here would be appreciated!

I had what sounds like a similar issue, ended up being the knob press wasn't registering as the switch blank was obstructing it.
Quick way to test this, pull the knob off and just push on the shaft and see if that helps.
I'm sure MLC will be along soon to make a joke about the last line ...

If the button is ok I had the same issue, make sure you have read the
instructions properly and do exactly what it says.

Keep in mind if you are already driving the unit it may have calibrated, I would
suggest you follow the re calibration procedure to clear the unit and then the
calibrate procedure again ie after clearing put into auto and drive off with
      van attached of course.

Had similar experience. As Leigh has said follow word for word. It works.

            Hi All,
Thanks for the feedback I was away Camping for the w'end with the Camper connected.
I tried to rip the knob off of it ops: ... to no success

Again manual mode is fine & worked well going down Cunningham Gap on the w'end, but tried everything to get it into auto mode.

Might get local Auto Elec to have a look at it when I get my dual battery & Anderson put in

I also had that issue, which I figured was because I didn't thin out the back of the switch blank sufficiently. Rather than disassemble it all and grind away more of the switch blank, I just put a little ball of blue tack inside the hole in the knob to make it a tad shallower. Worked a treat and now every press works fine. Try that... costs nothing and doesn't require you to pull it apart again.

If you haven't been to the Auto sparky yet don't waste your time and money , as the others have said it needs a bit more clearance so that when you press the knob it has room to move. It may be a little tight to remove the first time but once you manage it you only need to put something in there to stop the knob going all the way onto the shaft .

I am amazed that you fitted the tow pro yourself but are going to get a dual battery and Anderson plug fitted by someone else.
