    Only thing to note if towing with the Pajero or any IRS vehicle is as the suspension sags or cycles so does the camber angles. So the vehicle is wheel aligned with nothing in it, you load up for a holiday and tow your van for let's say 10,000Km, all of a sudden your near new tyres are stuffed on the inner edge from the misalignment caused by the extra load. Just something to think about if you plan on using it this way. They are a lot of car for the coin though.

      The refinement in the cabin embarrasses the Prado. It's up there with the Landrover.
      I'll take it for a spin just to be sure.

      I'm actually just waiting for the Fortuner to arrive on the 26th.
      Then I'll more than likely buy a Prado.

        On my way up north came across a new Cherokee towing a van with a cooked gearbox. Tried to find some info in his manual about towing as he had no idea that you might need to use different gears, gave up and left him to it in the end.

            I also wonder if some of the "bugs" or complaints from the previous Prado have been addressed....I hope so.

            I wonder if anyone who has looked at the new 2016 GXL Diesel 'GD" Prado has noticed if Toyota have made any alterations to the following....

            1. More robust metal around the front wheel arches so the wheel arch guard doesn't crack from the weight of the battery or a dual battery, a robust second battery mount, and a little better aircon pipe clearance near the second battery mount location.
            2. Are interior light bulbs still incandescent bulbs or are they now low wattage LED?
            3. Is alternator voltage output still a little low (ie no need for a voltage booster diode)..I guess so as I'm told it reduces load on the engine ever so slightly and thus reduces emissions and fuel consumption by not having an alternator work that bit harder under load to completely charge the battery
            4. Acceleration hesitation, & vibration around 1,800 rpm...(almost certainly no longer present as its a whole new engine)
            5. I wonder if the transfer case is actually protected this time...ie no need for the after market transfer case guard
            6. I wonder if there is a more efficient or perhaps a dual under bonnet diesel fuel filter, so no need for an additional after market diesel fuel filter.
            6. I wonder if you can refil the 2016 Prado quickly without taking ages to fill the tank completely due to bubbling and burping etc...
            7. I wonder if they now have a set of pliers in the partly filled tool kit (which previously had vacant tool spots) inside the rear door...so that there is no longer any need to alter the tool kit and try and fit a pair of pliers yourself, just so you always have at least the most basic of tools even if you leave your own tool kit at home
            8. A good place to easily mount a UHF CB?
            9. I hope the engine oil drain plug is easy to get at, and also the engine oil filter...I like to change my own engine oil and filter regularly, and if its a pain in the ar%s to get at the drain plug or the oil filter I wont be happy...access to both on the current Prado is not to bad.
            10. Decent length of rear mud flaps, so owners don't have to go to the trouble of another survey and petition to get the mudflaps replaced because they were not fit for purpose.

            I love my Prado, but there were a few things that could make it even better...so it will be interesting to see if they have addressed any of these items....probably not, because despite owning several Toyota's, I have never had anyone ask me for my feedback or experiences, and just try and contact Toyota...you get referred back to dealerships...and most dealer ships don't have the time or the interest or even the knowledge of those issues.

              Hello All. Just bought my first Prado.

              White GXL 2.8L Auto. Paid $61,000 drive away with no options or trade in.

              No haggling. Only approached one dealership. That was the dealer's first offer. The only requirement was that I had to settle by the end of last month as the dealership was trying to meet a sales target.

              To be honest, I think I was pretty lucky. I doubt I could get the same price again today. The dealer told me after the deal was completed that his boss wasn't happy about the price he had given me. May have been salesmanship but he seemed genuine.

              Have since paid $120 to get the front windows tinted, $600 for a towbar, $200 for rubber floor mats and $200 for front recovery points. Was planning to spend $2,300 on leather seats but the kids prefer the 'fluffy' seats so I guess I'll just save myself the expense.

                Stoo, what towbar did you go for? I'm getting tints tomorrow, opting for darkest legal on fronts and clear UV on everything behind, a bit more than $120 tho!

                  I used a local towbar specialist here in Brisbane (Wynnum Towbars) based on recommendations on this forum. There is no branding on it. One slight disappointment is that when reversing with the trailer, the rear parking sensors go off constantly. I think if you get a genuine Toyota bar and wiring loom then the rear sensors are disabled when a trailer is attached.

                  The tint guy tried to sell me on clear tinting for the privacy glass. I thought about it but was a little skeptical as to whether it was really worthwhile.

                    Great price for the 2.8. Privacy glass has no uv protection at all so will still allow heat and glare into the vehicle.
                    You can manually switch off rear sensors when you need to, there is a switch down near the engine stop/start button.

                      Hard to find reliable information on UV protection. According to this article, clear autoglass blocks 97% of UVB radiation (the worst wavelength for sunburn and skin cancer).

                      Other information I've read makes me think it does vary between brand and model of car.

                      Adding clear window tint can increase your protection from 97% to 99% but I'm not sure I really want to pay for that.

                        i believe it is the infra red it blocks out to reduce heat in the car.

                          Automotive glass needs to have mandatory UV protection. Think about it.. if you drove 7 hours a day, why aren't you sunburnt at the end of the day?

                          The clear tint that is offered has IR protection which is the energy that heats up the car. You should select tinting based on IR rejection.

                            That's probably right. I reckon the privacy tint would probably block at least some of the infra red too though.

                            Would be nice to find some independent research comparing privacy glass and tint films with respect to heat and UV penetration. I find it difficult to rely solely on the advice of tint film salespeople.

A/C PIPE CLEARANCE NO LONGER AN ISSUE. I EASILY FIT A N70 (OPTIME D27F) IN WITH SPACE TO SPARE
