All,
I've been a long time reader on this subject, and to be honest most of the threads go down a line where I get completely lost. So I'm hoping for some newbie level advice on this:
We've got 120 diesel 1KD which is knockin' pretty hard. When we park her nose down we'll have some difficulty in getting her to turn and start, especially in the cold weather with plenty of blue smoke. From what I've read this is pretty symptomatic of an injector issue and this has been confirmed by the garage, 4 Traction in Artarmon, they ran some tolerance tests and the report came back "way off".
Now we love our Prado, and we've put some cash behind it. New bullbar, suspension, electronics etc and we don't want to say goodbye to it yet. Is it worth getting the injectors replaced and what kind of price range should I be looking at for parts and maintenance? I genuinely would love to be able to do this myself and it feels like the majority of the posters on this forum are capable of such a thing, but alas no I'll need to put some cash behind it to get it fixed.
tl;dr;?
Details -
Prado 120 series 2007
Engine 1KD
Odo: 210kkms
Symptons: Engine Knock + Blue Smoke when parked nose down
Problem: Do I replace the injectors, or sell the car?
Questions: If I replace the injectors, what kind of cost (including labour) should I budget for?
Cheers all - Ian
