Ok I have just had 2008 Prado checked out by Toyota in an attempt to track down a squealing noise that occurs sometimes when slowed down for towns etc after long periods of highway driving. The noise goes away when I accelerate to about 70km/h.
It does not always occur and changes in intensity when power is applied and only occurs while in motion. If I rest the car for about an hour it does not happen.
Originally thought it was rubbing brakes but if I gently apply brakes does not change. Think it is coming from left front of car.
Have changed fan belt and had back handbrake hubs cleaned out. Toyota could not find anything wrong. I have got under car with temperature gun and there is about 15 deg difference in cv driveshaft at gearbox end with the left one always hotter.
It has me worried as I do outback travelling and do not want a complete breakdown to occur.
Another thing is it first occurred about 6 months ago mainly when towing a van although once when not towing. Never occurred again until now when towing my van. It is not my van and once it occurs disconnecting the van the car still does it.
Hope someone has idea.
