  • Correct Old Man Emu setup

    G'day all,
    Ordered an OME setup for my car today and wondering people's opinions if they have ordered me the correct ones.
    Upon investigation they have ordered me the 0kg-GVM coils. According to the OME site there are 3 weight types, 0-GVM, 200kg-GVM and 400kg-GVM.
    I'm currently running:
    Front: steel bar (no winch), dual battery
    Rear: LRA 136L tank, drifta drawers (no real extra weight over the removal of the rear seats) and a fridge
    Other: Steel Roof rack.
    Does that seem right to everyone?

    What are your all your part numbers/Prado model details?? We would need those to check if what was ordered are correct.

    You can check the recommended setup here:

      Prado is a 2010 150 GXL diesel. Part numbers are:
      Coils Front #2885 Which is the 0-GVM
      Coils rear #2889 also 0-GVM
      Front struts 90010 and rear 60080

      Did that selector and it recommends all 3 types. 0-gvm, 200-gvm and 400-gvm

        2885 = Bar only 50mm lift
        2889 =medium load 50mm lift [edit]
        I 've got a spec sheet but no access to scanner , I might try to photograph it and attach

          The front coils are heavier (than the no bar option) which should suit the bar on the front, with the extra fuel load you could consider the heavier springs in the rear (2898) but I guess it depends on how often you will be loading it up and what sort of ride your after for everyday driving.

            Are you sure with the 2889? the OME site has the 2889 as the 0kg and the 2899 as the 400?

            I'm mostly concerned about the rear springs being the right ones?

              Usually leave the drawers full and the fridge in every day. Touring wise I go for 2 people in the car with a usual amount of stuff.

                Sorry Jimmy my dislixier with numbers [can't even spell it]
                2889 = medium load at 50mm lift
                2899= 400kg constant load 50mm lift

                  If the extra constant load on the rear is ~140 kg of water and a fridge, the 2889 makes sense. Unless your fridge weighs more than 60 kg. in which case you'd want the 200kg rear springs.

                    I agree with spilsy in that the 2889 should be fine for the most part. If you are worried that they will be too soft the there are always the 200kg (2898) option. IMO I think the 400kg (2899) will be way over what you would want, especially if you only have it load fully once or twice a year while touring.

                      Got mine booked in on Tuesday with the same setup. Spoke to my mate at ARB and he agreed that this would do the job perfectly for what I want.
                      Same weights as you will be using, so I think you'll be golden.

                            Wow. What a difference. Can't believe it took me 6 months to upgrade the suspension. Feels almost like a different car. Now corners better and feels much more solid. Height looks great too, not too over the top.
                            ARB Burleigh Heads an absolute joy to deal with as usual...

                              I've waited 2 and a bit years to do mine. I cannot wait for Friday to get here.
                              I had to chauffeur the olds around this evening and they even mentioned that the ride had deteriorated...
