lightforce HID's still outsell their LEDs by 2 to one... if you want to see up the road HID spotties with a lightbar for close range spread....
And the Ultravision 120maxx's outperform bot the Lf's and the ARBs LED's made in aus and a better warranty come with harness and security bolts also... still torn in buying any of the three though
In the end though the cheaper chinese stuff for half the price provide 70% of the performance ... Each to their own though but its a minefield out there

I bought my LED's for the low speed bush driving I do so I apologise about the 500 metre comment. I wrongly thought everyone was in my position and had the same needs. I just returned from Bendethera and my cheapos performed well. Great spot and flood. Having read the last few replies though, the next lights I buy will specifically be for distance as the argument for greater distance is a good one and the stock high beams aren't good enough after seeing what LED's can do.

I ended up going with the Lightforce LED215s. Got 2 "driving Lights" which are their spread pattern (don't gain much extra distance with the spot beam anyway, and I like to see wider). I fired them up for the first time last night and have to say, they are impressive. I think they are as good as the HIDs they are replacing, plus they give instant light, whereas the HIDs require some warm-up time. Additionally, the colour temp for the LED215s is 5,000K, which I like better than the whiter 6000K most lights seem to come in these days.2009 White KDJ120R Manual fitted out for family camping and touring - See my Rig Build at http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27887-Smithy-s-Rig-Build

My mate has 4 ARB Intensity lights across the top of his Defender and I noticed the other day that the red surround is faded as hell. Now considering what he paid for them, I'd be mighty pee'd off. And let me add this vehicle has not had a hard life by any stretch. Very poor quality in my view.

I just fitted a pair of the 9" LED spotties from 4WD superstore. About $350 a pair. Not as good quality as ARB, but stiff very solid and good stainless steel bracket.
First impressions - BRIGHT! definitely better than my IPF 900XS halogen spotties by far.
Range probably not as great as HID's but honestly what's the need? People focus too much on seeing 1km down the road when you're more likely to have a roo hop out only 50-100m in front of you.
For the money, very happy.
