How do you get to MacCabes corner? I'm driving past late next week (Sydney-Adelaide) but I can't work out where you'd park or walk/drive in - it seems to be surrounded by private property/farmland.

We went in from a place called Lindsay Point, there's an almond processing plant there.
Head to a boat ramp/camping area called Higgins Cutting, just east of Lindsay Point there's a sign post. We didn't know about that track in until the next day, we took Kempe rd to the west, traveling past almond farms until we came to a track with a gate with a sign "please shut gate, stock". Followed that till we found the boat ramp. The other way would be more straight forward as its sign posted!
To get to the corner post will require walking about 4 km, or as I did, riding a bike.
          Can't we just keep travelling?

I'm contemplating hiring a boat from customs house houseboats and seeing McCabes as well as the inflection that starts the Victorian part of the straight line on the Murray River. What a strange setup? Politics has been around a long time.

I can 'hire' you my houseboat. Its around 15 feet long, has three bench seats and fancy steering wheel in the middle with electric starting so you don't have to touch the outboard.

Just think of the view as you're lying back trying to sleep with no roof over you to block the view!
                Cheers

The challenge was completed today after driving as far South in Tasmania as possible to Cockle Creek before, a 12km hike to reach the southern most point of Australia. Absolutely stoked to have crossed this one of my bucket list as well.

Might post some pics when I get home.

I was thinking about this a few months ago. If you're gonna include Tassie, you might as well include the rest of the islands. Torres Strait Islands, Bishop & Clerk, Norfolk Island and Flat Island. I'm just gonna stick to the mainland extremities - my Prado can't swim.

                        re : McCabes Corner

Hi all, I just looked at the Murray-Sunset National Park (Lindsay Island and Mulcra Island) official map and there still appears to be a thin strip of public land for access to this area. I want to go there this Melbourne Cup Weekend and want to confirm that after driving east on Lacey Ave you can turn north up Kempe Rd and cut across just before the road bends westward again. I think this might be the entrance Whitey1 is talking about. I want to avoid entering south of 'CMV Farms Murtho' on Lacey Ave.

Pictures from the four compass points in the order I visited them.

Cape Byron, no picture of me standing there, it was raining at the time

                          Cape York

Steep Point, the only one I could get the Prado close enough to in order to get it in the picture.

South Cape, the others you can drive almost to them, this one needs a 12km hike, which fortunately I love hiking through the bush.

                          Cheers Andrew

Yep, that's the way we went. At that corner that turns west, there is a gate with a sign saying please shut the gate. Goes to a boat ramp and camping area. Walk to the corner. Or like me ride a mt bike.
