Winch recommendations ?

I had an alloy ECB bull bar installed (best on the market) that was winch compatible and now have a Warn Zeon installed o[=CONFIG]23993[/ATTACH]n it. The installer did have to reposition the front camera and sensors so that the front camera and sensors would work which are important for the media camera that gives you the 360 degree view. I have a post on this site and photos showing the installation. My radar cruise still works but it is crap and I switch it off every time I engage cruise as instead of slowing you slowly, it jams on the breaks and sends you through the windscreen. Another stupid Toyota design.

Installed a Warn Zeon 12000 to my 100. The solenoid block is removable and mounted well on top of the bar. Used the earth wire to a switch on dash to isolate the winch to stop idiots running the cable.

Just a word of warning to those looking at the Sherpa winches. I bought one and regretted it. Faulty gearbox, faulty wiring, faulty brake. Awful hand held and worse wireless remote. List goes on and on. Would not stop the 100 from rolling down the driveway. The response from Sherpa - not enough load. So i tried it using the car in reverse gear (auto) and the winch ran on over a meter. Then to rub salt in a large wound would not credit without a restocking fee.


New type cable retainer. Cut the lug off and taper wedge works.

I was looking at the magnum to install in my 150 with steel ARB bar.

Anyone had one installed with the box in the bay?

On my 120 i relocated the Magnum box on the front chassis rail using a piece of 50 x 3 flat. Bolted to one of the bar mounts.

Mounted the box on the RHS (Drivers side). Box is out of the way and can be accessed without lifting bonnet.

Don't buy them. Electrics, gearboxes, controls are very cheap. We bought two of the 17000 lb units and the brake wouldn't hold the car on our moderate sloped driveway. Remote was wired incorrectly and so was the hand unit. The insulation inside the motor is very suspect and doomed for failure.
We took the first one back to have the gearbox changed as it would not freespool then all the electrics for re wiring and finally after more than 10 faults returned them. To rub salt in they charged us a restocking fee.

Ended up with two 12000 warn zeon. Installed them and they worked.
