You're a good man amts! I turned down a side road near my place last week and a 3m long piece of 75x50 hardwood was lying across the road. I had the Prado and trailer so no big deal and I avoided it easily but for a car it could be interesting at 80 kph! Stopped a bit further along where it was safe to do so and walked back to grab the piece of timber. Thought long and hard about taking this nice dressed piece of wood home but instead propped it up against a sign on the side of the road. Turned around and noticed Mr Plod had pulled up on the other side of the road watching me! Not that he would have known it wasn't mine but an odd feeling. Honesty must do that to you. As I see it, if you had put it in your car you would have either been charged with carrying an unsafe load (if you said it was yours) or theft (if you said you found it). I can fit 3m on the trailer legally so that isn't an issue. I had just been to the dump so had plenty of tie downs. I watched half a dozen wooden dining chairs fall off the back of a truck a couple of weeks ago. I had the dash cam going. There were two old ladies in their little cars behind him with nowhere to go. I came alongside him and wound my window down. He was on his mobile and totally oblivious to the missing chairs. He'd only tied his table onto the flat-bed. I shouted at him for about 2 or 3 km until he turned and faced me. I told him to get off his phone and then told him about his chairs in a not too friendly manner.Dave
